If my comrade said it then he is right. Our PRESIDENT ELECT was dominating all night
Comrade?

Are you admitting to Russian collusion on behalf of the President elect?

He named some of the most famous coups such as Chile in 1973 and Iran in 1953. Why do not see those as incorrect. To me, it seems like the only answer would be the super pedantic one, that these coups often times involved native right wing forces and the French and British, in many cases.
The question was essentially could you trust a socialist with foreign policy and he decided America overthrowing 3 regimes in the 50's 60's and 70's was a relevant answer? Was Nicaragua next?

Bern just knows how to stay on message, no matter what, just keeps repeating the message,

Like I said before, mans is the Push-T of politics. The decades pass, but the bars stay the same.

And the people are in the mood to hear about copping drugs for the low.

Whether it be by the milligram from a Canadian mail order pharmacy, or by the kilo from a Mexican cartel plug.

Implied Middle East is an inherently and historically violent region. Or was he implying Islam was? He didn't really specify.

This was to lead into his point that the situation between Israel and Palestine isn't that big of a deal because it's only been going on for 50 years and he flippantly offered up some solution that amounted to Israel keeping their borders but giving back some of the property outside of their borders (he couldn't get himself to call them "illegal settlements").

His tone the time was like, "this is pretty easy to fix. I'm annoyed I have to take time to explain this."

MY PRESIDENT.

On a somewhat serious not; while it is great to look at history when talking about present events in the world, it can also be harmful to look at history going way back to essentialize about a people or a region. It's true that the Levant has been fought over, by many different powers, for centuries. At the same time, many different powers fought for Centuries over the land in modern day Germany and France and England and Belgium and Switzerland and Spain and Italy and Poland and Lithuanian etc.

Those countries do not have borders that are fought over today. There are calls for succession but its handled through a mostly non violent political process.

The situation in Israel and Palestine and Lebabnon and Syria is chaotic not because it was once disputed between the Ptolemids and the Seleucids or because Richard the Lion Heart fought Saladin. It's chaotic because of British and French colonialism, a new reactionary and ethno-nationalist form of Zionism and climate change, all relatively recent developments.

Edit: To clarify, French and British/English colonialism goes back for centuries. However their direct control in the Levant, Jordan and Iraq only goes back to the time right after WWI when they were taken from the dissolved Ottoman Empire.

How was anything implied? He stated fact. The Israeli Palestine conflict has gone back to the 50's (Which he mentioned)

The only solution IS a two state solution, it was a cookie cutter answer, but the right one.

PBS needs to moderate all the debates.

Again, I have no clue why ppl keep falling for the trap of attacking him on how he’s gonna pay for M4A, he has the same answer in every debate, interview, tweet, etc.

If you want him outside of his comfort zone go at him on foreign policy, but that requires you to be up on your **** which most on that stage aren’t

What's he going to do to stop the assassination of Jewish and Arab leaders who are seen as being too soft on the other side when they agree to the two-state compromise?

edit: I'm just being facetious (no leader in the Middle East would be assassinated for seeking compromise, right???). Anyway, I see your point and honestly I'm expecting way too much from the candidates on foreign policy. But I still think his solution ignores the facts on the ground and his initial jab about the region being historically violent was, as Rex explained, even if factual also harmful.

Bernie out here calling Netanyahu a racist and saying America has overthrown governments. My goodness

Well said Bernie
America set Cuba, Chile, Domincan Republic, Haiti, Venezuela, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Colombia back 100 years with its involvement.
Wikipedia US involvement in any of those countries if you don't believe me.

The Jewish people have been fighting over this land (Judea) since Hadrian. While modern day colonialism and Islamic State movements that formed in the 20th century are primary drivers, this land being disputed by Christians/Jews/Muslims predates colonialism.

Bernie would obliterate any of the politicians on stage on foreign policy. Klobuchar didnt even know the name of Mexico’s president. I would say 90% of them have an americentric view of foreign policy.

Any other countries situations you would like to blame on the US?
Why stop there.
