Late reply but don't worry, Belgians have been facepalming in disappointment for so long that all we can do at this point is laugh at the buffoonery.

When we took over the Guiness world record for the first time, the people were so done that there were ironic celebrations all across the country. To emphasize how absurd it was the we took that record, the previous record holder was war-torn Iraq and we proceeded to speed way past them to end at 541 days without a functioning government.
The word embarrassing doesn't even begin to describe that. A country ravaged by war, terrorism and ideological rivalries managed to get their **** together in far less time than us.
This time around we're already way past Iraq's record once again by the way.

Note how we took the record at 'only' 249 days. We continued to extend our record all the way up to 541. So by comparison, war-torn Iraq had a quick and smooth transition.
