***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Let's just wrap this election up so I can know who to blame for the next 4 years.
I've made my choice, and I sick of these polls all of the speculation.

He's saying the federal government shouldnt be spending the money on relief and the states and private sector should footing the bill. In that case, nothing would get done.
states and private sectors were actually better handling things like katrina then fema.

and he also said we're spending more then we're taking, which is basically true.

They are but the point trying to get across is the states won't have the money to fix these problems with out them stepping in and funding the clean up. I think thats the issue.

not for nothing but Mitt got a raw deal with politics of that op-ed piece...clearly he states at da end of it

The federal government should provide guarantees for post-bankruptcy financing and assure car buyers that their warranties are not at risk.
In a managed bankruptcy, the federal government would propel newly competitive and viable automakers, rather than seal their fate with a bailout check.

thats exactly what happened under president obama, and yet he painted mitt romney as someone who would've let Detroit fend for themselves looking for private captial

to rescue them or completely liquidate.

What I want to know is how can Romney take any credit for saving the auto industry.

This is a guy who wrote "IF General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye. It won’t go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed." This is the same guy who lied and misled the public to think that Jeep is moving their production to China. Yeah, he purposely misled Americans to think they are moving ALL production to China. That's a flat out lie. He even ran an ad revolving around this lie.

umm and obama lied and mislead da public about mitt sayin he's let Detroit go bankrupt.

clearly when you read da piece he said he would let em go thru a managed bankruptcy like Obama ushered GM and Chrysler with guaranteed government protection.

Is it misleading the public when you actually use the words they said? For ****'s sake, the title of his article is called 'Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.' He didn't mislead anyone. Romney thought the government should find private-sector lenders. There were none to be had, not even Romney's Bain. Romney was so opposed to the auto bailout that he 'if you write them a check, they are going out of business.'

So who was right when it came to the bailout?

He said GUARANTEED government funed b, AND he wasnt da one that titied da piece. Readin is fundamental.

In other less important news, Mitt Romney takes a 2 percent lead in Ohio... In b4 rasmussen suddenly turned right wing.

Rasmussen had Obama & Mccain tied at this exact same time in 08 and Obama won that state easily.. Its the most biased poll out there.

Saw the NC poll released today which has Obama and Romney tied. If thats true than I firmly believe the only state Obama loses this time is Indiana which is already a foregone conclusion.

The only reason states/private sector handled katrina better...is because FEMA was run like **** (due to Bush's buddy in charge) and completely botched the entire aid process.

That's like saying Lamar Odom is better than Shaq, based on a game where Shaq played injured, instead of comparing their actual capabilities.

Yo...theres one thing I can't stand more than a liar...and its someone who just tries to change history.

You could have gone even to Wikipedia before this and not have to had let this come out.

I guess you forgot whose fault it was to actually let FEMA know to come in...right?

The only thing private contractors did was send in Erik Prince and BlackWater to shoot people. They couldn't even deliver a palette of water without driving it across the entire country.

Fema failed da folks over at da big easy..end of story.

Stop twisting what mitt said in that interview.. u lookin like a politician.

I'm not sure Mitt's words are being twisted. It's pretty clear what he's saying, leave the American people at the mercy of the private sector in pretty much every situation. Idk about you but I'll never be comfortable with that. :rolleyes

obviously da narrator eluded to da fact that fema did a isshy job on katrina and mit said he would want da states to have more control of what they wanna do.

and NONE of you seem to bring up da fact that we're spending more then we take in.

Of course we are spending more than we take in. With unemployment at 8% and GDP at 2%, that's expected no matter who is in charge.

We cut spending and GDP may go negative and unemployment could go above 10%. Then what do you do? Cut spending more?

we follow north dakota in da next boom in shale oil and natural gas boom

ya wanna spend more? generate more.

listen it comes down to this: Mitt Romney will bankrupt the gov't and increase the deficit even worst than Obama did, but in his defense he will spend a lot less on social programs to help the poor (while putting all that money + more back into the military and into the hands of neo-cons who destroy and then rebuild). Mitt Romney can only increase take-home pay by tax cuts, he will not create 12 million jobs with a bankrupt government and less wallstreet regulations (not to mention greedy CEOs won't let their savings from tax cuts go to new "uneeded" workers), he will destroy healthcare (although he gladly fixed it in Massachusetts), he will not end the Afgan war in 2014 (unless he starts another), he will not stand up to China beyond calling them names... the list goes on
