it was a post of a landlord saying if Biden got elected, he’s raising rent.

I remember a viral email that a business owner sent to his employees in 2008. The guy whined that Obama is mean to business owners and if elected, he’d disband his business and all of his employees would be out of a job.

There’s also the claim that if companies have to pay higher minimum wage, they’ll have to lay off people or if app based driver and delivery workers get legally classified as employees, those businesses will shut down.

Rarely do those threats materialize, it’s in the business owners‘ self interest to have slightly lower profits and stay in business rather than shut down and make no profits.

However, it is true that business owners can fire people as retaliation for new laws and new elected officials coming into power, who displease capital. Landlords can also punish the working class for electing politicians or supporting laws which make their lives slightly better.

So while business owners and landlords, rarely actually make good on their threats or “go Galt”(withdrawing their capital), the fact that they could means that they have too much power in this system and concentration s of
capital needs to either be heavily regulated, broken up and maybe even abolished

Here’s the thing, it dies natter either way.

If Biden is not serious about incorporating the left into his administration, Bernie would be the token leftie and would be ignored.

If Biden is serious about incorporating the left, as he has claimed, then there are plenty of left/progressive lawyers, economists and activists who can have high level jobs in the Biden White House.

If anything, it might be better for younger leftists to work in the Biden White House because those younger leftists can transition to national politics in the way Elizabeth Warren did going from Academia to CFPB to the Senate.
