I saw a tweet that said Fangio has zero interest in returning to College, so I would assume he's staying. No way Trent and Jed force him out.

I want to find out was Harbaugh holding back our offense or was it our player's execution?
I just think it was Harbaugh wanting 100 percent control and say so, eventually egos butted and it became a who got bigger balls contest.

I really believe why he is leaving, hes not with the politics of it all, I also think thats why we didnt get Manning

Thats why i think he went back to college, He'll be king of the hill

literally right as I posted that Eric Branch posted this
Notes: Fangio won’t join Harbaugh; retirement likely for Smith

On Sunday, Jim Harbaugh declined to say which of his assistant coaches could be following him to the University of Michigan, but here’s one coach who won’t be making the tip to Ann Arbor: Vic Fangio.

The 49ers defensive coordinator, who spent 2010 with Harbaugh at Stanford, won’t remain with Harbaugh in 2015, a source said.

It’s possible Fangio will be a viable candidate for Harbaugh’s just-vacated job. Fangio and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula are viewed as logical in-house candidates for the opening, although the 49ers are expected to cast a wide net in their search.

Fangio, 56, who just finished his 28th NFL season, has expressed his desire to be the 49ers’ next head coach to the front office. He bolstered his candidacy this season as the 49ers entered Sunday’s 20-17 win over Arizona with the NFL’s fifth-ranked defense despite placing seven defensive players on injured reserve since the start of the regular season.

Meanwhile, Tomsula, 46, who joined the 49ers in 2007, is the longest-tenured member of the staff and is one of the league’s most-respected defensive line coaches. He has a 1-0 career record: He was named the interim coach when Mike Singletary was fired with one game left in the 2010 season.

CEO Jed York and general manager Trent Baalke will address the media regarding the 49ers’ coaching search at 1 p.m. Monday.

Justin Smith’s just-completed 14th NFL season could be his last.

The All-Pro defensive tackle said earlier this month he would consider retirement and that now appears likely. Smith, 35, is strongly leaning toward leaving the 49ers with one year remaining on his contract, the NFL Network reported during Sunday’s game.

Linebacker Dan Skuta acknowledged Smith’s uncertain future.

“I’m still going to be upset about the year, but I’m excited for Justin Smith and any other guy that might not be here next year,” Skuta said. “I’m excited that they got to go out on a win. Might be Justin’s last game ever, so just excited for him and happy for this team that we could go out on a good note.”

Smith, who didn’t have a tackle Sunday, declined to speak to reporters. He said he would address the media Monday.

*************************************************************

The two blanks on the 2015 schedule were filled in as the 49ers discovered which team from the NFC East and NFC South they’ll face next season. The 49ers finished third in the NFC West, meaning they’ll visit the Giants (third place NFC East) and host the Falcons (third place NFC South) next season.

At home, the 49ers will also face: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Minnesota, Arizona, St. Louis and Seattle. On the road, they will meet: Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Arizona, St. Louis and Seattle.

*************************************************************

Wide receiver Anquan Boldin, 34, had two catches for 81 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown, his longest catch since 2008.

Boldin finished with 1,062 yards and became the fourth player in franchise history with multiple 1,000-yard receiving seasons. The others: Jerry Rice (12), Terrell Owens (5) and John Taylor (2).

*************************************************************

The 49ers’ 8-8 season finished fittingly: Without a fourth-quarter point.

The 49ers finished with 33 fourth-quarter points, which matched the third-fewest in the NFL since 1990. Their 90 second-half points were the seventh-fewest since 2000.

This may be a long read, but it will be worth it. I promise.

By all I'm sure you've all heard the news that we won't be back in SF next season. My dad was told the Monday following the loss in Seattle that he would not be back in 2015. I wish you could've been told then. It obviously wasn't my place to break the news. I know there have been months of rumors and speculation leading up to this over the course of a year so I just want to make sure you all know the whole story.

You need to first realize that my dad loved this city and team. He chose to coach here for a reason 3 years ago. He believed they could go far. It's why leaving is so difficult. You also need to know that he would've stayed if he could have. Unfortunately, he wasn't given such an option, and was disappointed by that.

There have been hundreds of reports from journalists each with varying reasons on why he was leaving/what the locker room atmosphere was like. Those people know nothing more than the average person about what goes on behind closed doors. They're in the business of looking for drama and stirring up controversy. I can't blame them. It's in their job description. That being said, I've yet to see a single article that truly depicted the real story.

Last summer a story came out about a potential head coach trade with the Cleveland Browns. If that seemed like it came out of left field for you, it did for us too. It was brought up by someone in the Browns front office who we knew, but it was a one sided conversation. The idea wasn't even entertained. Yet the media fed off of it, and created a story line where there was no story, and thus, we came into the current season with questions regarding my dads future with the team. Like the trade rumors, reports of locker room discontent also came as a shock. Nothing I saw in 3 years of being at the facility, on the team plane, and in the locker room at games ever even suggested anything of the sort. I don't care to point fingers because in the end it doesn't really matter who planted the rumors. The mere fact that they existed is enough. All I'll say is it wasn't a player or analyst as most have said. Look up what happened with Jimmy Johnson and the Cowboys for reference.

This is a talented team, and I believe they can still win. Injuries plagued us in a year that could've been special. The fans have sometimes forgotten that, and placed too much unnecessary criticism on the players we did have that stepped up or played through injury. However, there are still deep rooted problems in SF that need to be fixed to win the sixth Super Bowl. I'll just list a few of them to make this brief.

1. The front office
We were aware and were told about the reputation of the teams front office when we came...we are well aware now.

1. Stadium
There was no consistent home field advantage at Levi's stadium this year. I desperately wanted there to be one, but honestly, if I were on any other team, I'd love to play against our team there. You can blame the design, but it really starts with the fans. If you ever want to win at home next year and beyond YOU HAVE TO STAY IN YOUR SEATS IN THE SECOND HALF AND BE LOUD THE WHOLE TIME, NOT JUST ON THIRD DOWN WHEN THE TEAM IS AHEAD. It was dead silent at times when the opposing team was on offense. Trust me, u despised teams like the Seahawks and Saints, but their fans are loud from start to finish. They really do make an impact. It's possible here too.

2. Keep Frank Gore
No one wants to win/cares as much about football as much as Frank. He was my favorite player on the team. Sign him.

3. The front office
We were aware and were told about the reputation of the teams front office when we came...we are well aware now. I have respect for everyone there don't get me wrong, but I don't feel the season needed to end this way.

Lastly I just want everyone to think before you point fingers and blindly just throw criticism around. Everyone in the 49er organization had the same record for the past 3 years. Winning or losing is a team effort, and can never be put on a single person. All of this stuff you've been saying around around about the unwillingness to fire assistant coaches leading to us leaving and my dad losing interest to coach just isn't true. He fought with maximum effort and intensity till the very end.

I always tell my dad about the good things you all have to say. Your support doesn't go unnoticed. I wish you all the best and I hope the team be successful in the future for the sake of the fans. This city deserves it.

Thank you for a four amazing years.

WHOS GOT IT BETTER THAN US?

And **** the Cleveland Browns for starting that ****.

Wish nothing but continued misery and decades of Johnny Manziel for that POS city.

Boone would miss his assignment in said fight and sit out the next one because he felt he didn't get enough props.

Can't believe we really just fired such a great coach. I'm not sure if it was posted here but even Arians said in the days prior to the game that he doesn't get it either.

The backlash that's going to come towards Jed could get nasty if we don't perform at an elite level, there's no doubt we have talent right now but the same could be said in the year(s) before Jim. Our division is as elite as they come, coaches included, and show no signs of declining.

:smh:

We ******* better be competitive next season with this bold *** move, they better have someone excellent in mind. This fanbase don't have the patience to go back to no playoff seasons like the 2000s.

There's still a lot of talent on this team. Got me wondering if Harbaugh is holding us back or if the players aren't executing. Next season will tell a lot. I read Gore re-signing will go based on the coach.

Yeah I watched the post game press conference and he said he will take that into consideration, also made it a point several times to say he wanted to be back though

Only hit he made was aldon smith.

Lol. Couldn't be any further from the truth.

Our best players on defense this year were brought in by Baalke in the offseason.

Just one example: Antoine Bethea.
