There's no white supremacy in here, just a diversity of perspective, exposure to which will certainly serve you well.

NOT everyone thinks like you, NOT everyone will agree with you. This is something that is fact, whether you accept it or not is anther story, but shutting down others because the inability to relate to their views is the hallmark of ignorance

So instead of owning up to White privilege we have posters ITT attempting to divert blame to Asian privilege

How will discussing Asian privilege in a thread about white privilege diversify my perspective or serve me well?

Humans have only been able to travel the world and cross populate with other areas for really only about 50-100 years now on a large scale... I can't wait for the day where race doesn't exist anymore more... And we're all just humans...

No, those are the facts. Asian families stick together, have good values, and they value education. Anyone can get to the top. 

I completely agree but That doesn't make it Asian privilege....the only privileged race in America are white people.
Asian people in America got to where they are by earning it.

My point is that in 200—300 years from now, such a large percentage of the population will be "mutts"... The vast majority of the population won't be black, white, Asian, ect; it be people who are 1/8 this, 1/3 that... Imo the biggest things holding back humanity from having a unified species are religion and race... Both are made up things... Nothing separates me from a black skinned man except for my white skin...

Privilege has nothing to do with the proportion of successful people, though. Especially when you consider that most Asians are successful because they work harder. The importance of education is paramount in Asian culture.

When it comes to privilege, it's an innate advantage that comes with being white. You are born into it, oblivious to it, but it exists.

I do agree, however, that white privilege is too often used as an excuse for being mediocre. Yes, it sucks to not have that compared to your white counterparts, but I feel like time spent complaining is much better spent bettering yourself, putting yourself in positions of control and influence, so that you may affect change much better than your parents/ancestors.

My parents worked hard for me. They were engineers who moved here and started their own business. Most importantly, they came at an age when most people wouldn't dare dream of starting a new life in a completely foreign country and not knowing the language - they were in their 50s. Simply put, they were fearless. But they came to guarantee my future. I won't ever forget that. To say I'm motivated by their love and sacrifice for me is an understatement. Failure is not even in my sights as I work hard and smart to further myself and my future family. My parents deserve nothing less but the absolute best of my abilities and intellect. Their efforts will not be wasted.

As a med student, it's pretty much guaranteed that my children will follow the same path, or at least something similar. That's the purpose, to leave your children with better resources and opportunities than were given to you.

Sidebar: interesting that the term "white people" or "white race" was first used in the 17th century in conjunction with the atlantic slave trade, colonial slavery, and scientific racism/early eugenics. it was "white" in reference to perfection, and goodness, the standard. Meanwhile you can just google the introduction of the word "black" into American English around the same time..

People always ask why is Africa so poor. The simple answer is that the wild animals aren't the only things being poached. The continent's educated population has been poached by the western world for decades by skewed immigration policies that the west deliberately put in place.

Dudes in here talking that nonsense about asians being "model minorities" hardworkers and family oriented. The stats are skewed because the west's immigration policy favor skilled and educated imigrant populations. They're not selecting some random Chinese farmer in a rice paddy to immigrate here. They deliberately choose the chinese guy with a college degree from a Chinese university to immigrate here.

The Chinese Exclusion Act meant that for a long while, no asians came to the US. It wasn't until the 80s when universities accepted large amounts of highly skilled and educated Chinese students that immigration came up again really, and that is selection bias at its very max; only taking the best and the brightest of a country.

It's no wonder they had great success here in the US. It's an extremely skewed population.

Most of the Chinese that came here during the earlier years STILL live in their China Towns. The super excelling kids majority come from the handpicked students that have been coming over in the past 40 years.

Compare this to the history of African Americans; they have long been in the US with racism institutionalized against them. From slavery to Jim Crow to separate but equal, blacks have faced far more systemic oppression than other groups.

Throw in the fact that the earliest ancestors were supplanted and taken to America against their will, and had their entire cultural identity stripped away. Their culture has been built against this backdrop of 200+ years of oppression and poverty.

Not surprised this was ignored, yes the system is imbalanced, both by history and numbers, but what will repeating this revelation in an endless amount of different ways going to change?

Blacks supporting blacks is a routinely under-acknowledged topic here, and I really believe it is a key, or even the key, for change.

Other minority groups certainly don't share similar background as blacks in this country, but they sure do model superior internal support systems (to varying degrees, of course)

Why not redirect the attention that's commonly focused OUTSIDE of the community and refocus it to INSIDE of the community?

Not trying to argue at all, I'm legitimately asking, any insight is surely appreciated.

The common myth among black people, and many other minorities for that matter... is if they try to align themselves w/ the white structure and distance themselves from their culture and people, then things will be fine...and that you can reap the benefits of white privilege.

And that's so far from the truth.

The thing with American blacks that's troubling is that it's so tough to trace our culture back more than 200 years...

Knowing your roots, worshiping a god that looks like you, maintaining your home culture's language... I think that those things have profound impact on one's confidence...

The KKK came on national TV, Told the world they will be killing blacks & NOBODY was locked up or questioned. The KKK is a KNOWN HATE organization but they are allowed to move freely without opposition.

One thing alot of people dont point out and I watched a video about it is that most white supremists donate to prosecutors and real estate companies and mayors.. so if I'm the KKK and i donate to someones campaign that can have the power to punish blacks.. and i give them 10k.. when the time comes where someones coming at me legally.. because they have people on payroll they never get charged.. blacks need to look at that.. the reason why Gods = Cops get away with stuff.. they have a STRONG union that puts money into these type of people to increase their Godly perks..

The argument that all races will be cross bred soon still makes no sense. People in Brazil share the same blood their divided by color, People in DR, South Africa etc etc

Dark skin in most places condemns you as undesirable because of institutionalized white Privilege. So even if the whole world was mixed 2mmrw, is that going to take away the views of white supremacy in society.

Is the notion that Blond hair & blue eyes is beautiful gonna stop.
Is the notion that you have to dress like a western man to be "well Dressed" going to stop.
Is the notion that all the biblical figures who are deity's, being white is that going to stop.
Is the notion that Everything western created is the best going to stop.
