Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I thought Paranormal 2 was better than the first. How that happened I have no idea. My need to see list is at about 25 right now. SMDH. Renegade, it all comes down to sports in some way. Goodfellas? Just a lil story about the pitfalls of sports betting.

Paranormal was indirectly about swimming. Hurt Locker he wears a baseball hat, top of this page is about Hoop Dreams, not sure what you're seeing. Are using Google Chrome? Could be messing with your pages or somethin

Every movie makes mention of a sports team or has a catchy sports phrase like '110%'.

Done and done.

In essence, it's S&T regulars discussing movies without getting lost by having the same thread in General.

Pineapple Express was kinda lame... Paranormal was very solid for what it was, missed the second in theaters though..

Need to catch Apollo 18.

Ska... If I were to put everything in order for you... Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, Casino, Heat, Hurt Locker.... The Hurt Locker is a clear dead last in that group, not even close. And, from what I can tell, you wouldn't get into it at all...

PA 1 & 2 were

I think the 1st one was better though...

I like the setup they had with the 2nd one... It definitly made the movie a lot better. I went in with low expectations because I wasn't sure how they would be able to make a 2nd one successfully... Didn't dissapoint.

Do yourself a favor and watch it on DVD, or better yet, get the Criterion Collection (you know there's greatness involved when a stoner/high school flick is put out by the same company that released Seven Samurai and The 400 Blows on DVD). Chuck Klosterman's essay alone makes it worth it.

I won't hype it up anymore since its simplicity makes it great but DVD is necessary the first time around.

Hmm. Maybe try the MoviePlex section? I just watched it 2 days ago and just checked again and Casino's still there. Maybe it's cause we're in different regions. But regardless, FIND A COPY OF CASINO ASAP. Someway, somehow. I'll write a damn JRS-esque post if I have to to convince you

Nowitness has the listings right, except imo Goodfellas > Pulp Fiction. I'm not mad he has PF > Goodfellas though. And dont expect Hurt Locker to be as good as the other 4. It's a great movie, but to a lot of people here on NT it's more overrated than Avatar

(I am not a soldier, but there were aspects of it that just seemed absurd, and were confirmed by those that are).

Just came in to say this.

The scene where he leaves the base without permission/notice and comes back and there are no repercussions whatsoever is just absolutely absurd. There's more things like that as well.

The Hurt Locker just wasn't that good.

Honestly I'm not sure how The hurt locker got into the same sentence as those other movies.

To be honest slumdog millionaire and the hurt locker are not best picture material. I enjoyed both movies, but in 20 years people will look back and say "those movies won?" Both awards seemed politically driven to me

There were so many. Blatant disrespect to superiors, them being alone so much, every last thing about the scene where they take off to the desert in the middle of the night, Renner's character's general recklessness and failure to communicate in the field...

I can only imagine how many technical errors were made. I remember reading a ton of different articles about it after I watched it for the first time.

We all know that every movie based on something real is going to have miscalculations, but for as highly-praised as it was, and for how adamant Kathryn Bigelow was about how "real" of a wartime depiction it was, it seemed really prevalent. Those were just aspects of sloppy writing that were totally avoidable. When civilians that know nothing of war can notice them right away, it can't be overlooked.
