Probably under the radar for some movies cuz some are not well known.I can see that.

But like...
Okay, the animated movie Flow is another one. I tell people about this movie and nobody knows.
Yes, I know it won for Best Animated Feature; that's actually how I learned about it, and then I watched it. It's a ******* masterpiece.
But my conversational field is huge, and covers all kinds of different demographics. I talk about the movie Flow about as often as any animated conversation I hear comes up and nobody knows it.
Same thing with Lighthouse.
I know people are quick to say things like, "Well maybe it's just your friends."
I'm not talking about my friends.
I'm talking about random people at the grocery store, at jails, at any of the 20 schools that I regularly go to, team meetings I have with people online in 8 different states.
Outstanding movie that is thrown in a conversation and the general response is, "Hmph, I'll have to check it out."
What are we calling that?
Under the radar?
Is that what that means?
Then there’s popular movies. What you’re talking about is ppl you know not knowing of movies you’ve seen.
You may also have to consider you’re surrounded by oddballs who don’t even watch popular movies and are unaware of them. Probably account for age, culture, and income before making that determination.

I returned to Masters of the Universe and it did get better, but I’m not on board with the Leto love. I feel like he did what he was supposed to do. Hamming it up when disguised in CGI might be the easiest kind of acting there is. Think there’s multiple actors who could have delivered in this role.
He delivered on what he was asked to do for sure though.

The Odyssey is one of those movies that if you don't know the original story, it's probably pretty great. However, knowing the original story and how many of the encounters played out (not to mention the important stuff they just left out entirely), it left me pretty underwhelmed at times. The cyclops scene was just baffling. Also, Charybdis, Scylla and the Sirens scenes lasted all of what, seven minutes total? I know they are short encounters relative to the length and scope of the story, but I feel they could have cut down 15 minutes from scenes back home in favor of a little bit more of the journey.

Underwhelming just as in the scenarios being relatively short? I think the main scenes are fine but I would've liked a bit more time on his time with Calypso.
Homer's Odyssey was part of my Latin and Cultural Sciences classes in highschool so it's been many years but the way I remember it, there's not many substantive changes to the encounters themselves aside from the Cyclops.
I think the original story of the Cyclops is actually more interesting and it wouldn't change that much to the overall vibes of the encounter in the movie.
In the original, Odysseus actually talks to the Cyclops and tricks it initially by giving it wine and claiming his name was "no one."
When Polyphemus falls asleep and they attack its eye, the other cyclops' in the area come to ask who attacked him but then leave because he tells them he was attacked by "no one."
When the crew escape with the sheep and then sail off, Odysseus shouts out his real name because he was too arrogant and then he ends up getting cursed anyway because the cyclops heard it and prayed to Poseidon. In that version, Polyphemus still kills a bunch of the crew in the same way and they also escape with the sheep so the change is really just about the name trick.
I might be a little off in my memory of how this played out because it's so long ago but I always thought that was the coolest part of the story.

I just didn't feel like typing out the whole thing regarding the cyclops lol. But, yes, it shows that even after visiting the lotus eaters (not depicted in the movie), he was still a cunning warrior. Yet, his hubris got the best of him immediately. I understand they kind of covered the lotus eater thing with Calypso, but the hubris of dealing with Polythemus would have tied directly into his Trojan Horse idea, and when he realized he had upset the gods.
Also, this doesn't bother me because it's not a movie about the Trojan War, but they had this tension built up while they're in the horse. I kind of wish they had added a brief scene with Cassandra, who warned Troy of the deception, but was ignored due to her deal with Apollo. They could have added an extra layer, where Odysseus could think "oh man, did I screw this up?" Turns out nobody could believe her. He didn't know that, though.
Anyway, I'm just pontificating on things left over from taking Latin in high school and a couple Greek history courses in college. Had an awesome professor who loved teaching this stuff.

It’s my anniversary so we’ve had mini-golf, lunch and now we’re waiting for the Odyssey to start at a local fan-owned cinema. Not exactly imax but it’s decent sized - and we’re sitting on a couch.

“No One” is supposed to be like the 3000 year old version of Mike Hunt or Hugh Janus.
