PHANTOM BIBLICAL PASSAGES?

Its impossible because the bibles cites laws for different ages, places, and groups of ppl. If you're trying to follow the bible completely you're a a schizophrenic, ortrying to develope it

I know I've used that "God helps those who help themselves" line many times. I'm a fool.

This will probably never happen but I really want to have a discussion with you on what you believe n stuff because I feel what you've heard from christians about it isn't always the best answers

Don't get me wrong I've read the bible as much/possibly more than most Christians. I'm not claiming expert on it by any means, I do know enough to not take the bible for anymore than a work of fiction. I also take what I hear from most Christians with a grain of salt but I'm not gonna lie  I really thought some of these were in the bible. I've heard the "God works in mysterious ways" line so much that I just assumed it had to come from God's lips himself.

Oh I was barely even talking about the scriptures thing Im sure you have read the Bible. I just want to know what you think about Christianity because it seems like you have put a lot of thought into it and have done some research

people who i've heard use phrases like "cleanliness is next to Godliness" or "spare the rod" dont actually say it's a verse from the bible. Like the "spare the rod" saying can be taken from proverbs 13.

I dunno if I "hate" Christianity. Hate is too strong a word considering a lot of people I love dearly are Christians. I do have a strong distaste for ignorance, and ignorance and religion seem to go hand in hand it seems. In fact in many ways "hate" is what I don't like about Christianity. I have no qualms with non-judgmental, non-hypocritical, loving, moral religious people (yes morality in religion is assumed to be a given but that is FAR from the truth). I also have the luxury of being able to exercise my right to freely express being a non-believer....many people around the world don't have this luxury. Living in America FTW.

Some of the most popular faux verses are pithy paraphrases of biblical concepts or bits of folk wisdom.
I just wanna bring attention to this part because I don't want to linger too long in here. Some verses do have the biblical orgin. They weren't just created out of thin air.

good point

For instance some people credit "patience is a virtue" as being biblical, which it technically is.....however patience is a virtue in many cultures and religious backgrounds. I'm sure there's an old African proverb out there about patience being a virtue.

Your last sentence insinuates that the bible is the reason for some of the misquoted folk sayings. If the bible didn't exist, patience would still be a virtue.
