How do you feel about Knight addressing his endorser Joe Paterno's issues at Penn State, yet not addressing some youth robbing and killing each other over product he produces, not even this past Christmas's Jordan XI debacle?

Hypocritical?

Ppl been robbing ppl for Jordans and jackets and stuff for the past 30 years now. It's hard to take a stand on such a broad issue. "Hey kids....stop robbing each other! Please? Price of nikes ain't gonna go down, but please?"

JoePa's last few months on this earth were pretty tragic, but it's one person one incident, it's easier to speak on something more specific, esp. AT HIS FUNERAL

Was he really suppose to address anything related to his products at this mans funeral?
Or was he not suppose to speak at the funeral?
Or not talk about any issue regarding Joe Paterno at all at his funeral?

I mean how does this question come about or even relate to anything to do with the video/speech.

Spoiler [+]
During the State of the Union address, why didn't Obama address people robbing and killing each other over money. I mean damn him and the US Treasury for not caring about the lives of others
Hypocritical?

can u imagine that?

Coach Hubie why dont you just change the title to I hate nike. who else does?

Phil Knight has never made his position on the violence associated with his product publicly known. He has never appeared on the news, then has never addressed it in the manner that is needed. In his speech for Paterno, he never mentions feeling for the victims of Sandusky's actions, all he said is that the investigation failed, not Paterno's lack of action.
This was a pep rally for one of his endorsers, nothing more, nothing less.

Phil Knight has never shown genuine regard for anything other than Nike, and then those associated with the swoosh.

^^^^^Truth

I'm perfectly fine with what he said and didn't say at the memorial.

Nike has taken many steps to curb slave labor and youth violence surrounding their products.  They are distributed through external channels.  What should they do, not re-release them?  Stop signing top flight athletes?

I don't have a problem with it. This was to celebrate the mans life, not persecute him for one mistake he made in poor judgement.

Great gift, but that is nothing but propaganda. That is publicity for Nike, unlike actually standing up and saying the killing for Nike shoes is wrong.
Do you think that people killing for Nikes know who Phil Knight is?

I don't think Phil Knight owes me anything.

He took a stance on Paterno and you get riled up, but you question him for not making public comments based on robberies that haven take part due to his product. Can't make everyone happy.

He's entitled to his opinion and he can run his business as he sees fit.

It is on the consumer to decide whether or not they will purchase the product...

If he stands up, they'll know who he is then, won't they?
Point is, if you feel this strongly about Paterno, how about the millions of people who wear and supported your product, the one that allowed you to MEET Paterno?

Nike would be nothing without the support of a certain the community, one that helped to make Nike famous.

I'm not riled, I just find his stance to be incredibly hypocritical.
No mention of the victims, which would have been the classy move, because I am sure that some of them wear Nike as well, right?

I think that's the nature of any business, relationships are built.

If people who are buying Nike products, don't know who he is by now, they may never know.

I think Phil would be one of the first people to tell you that Nike wouldn't be as successful with out consumers...

I know how you feel about Nike...but please...answer your own question and try to be realistic about it.
You're using this Paterno thing as a platform to push your argument...but if you really felt this strongly about it...how come you didn't make this post at any point before that funeral when the situation existed before that. Especially since the two situations have nothing to do with each other...hence me asking you how is this "hypocritical" in my first post.

You're usually reasonable with your Nike hate...but you're reaching in this specific instance.

People get murked over products everyday fam... Cars, Clothes, Shoes....Anything. Its not his direct responsibility to fight crime or prevent it... Raise your children correctly, Problem solved... His Job is to Move Nike Products, and well....He's doing a damn good job....a DAMN good job

I bet more people get robbed of their Cars than Nike Products anually.... Why don't we, as society, give The CEO's of Car manufactures a hard time for not addressing it?... Because it makes no sense, thats why
