I'd be down so long as we just don't give him away for FREE or anything like that. But that would guarantee another down season with what is basically a rookie QB

I don't like this shift in athletic QBs. I honestly think it is making the position less stable. It seems that these QBs flourish in the beginning but once age, injuries and game film scouting catch up to them its over. Makes the QB position career length shorter.
I want a football throwing General.
I still have hope in Palmer and would love him to stay for the right price.

Carson Palmer is not leading this team anywhere but to mediocrity. I'm not going to have an argument about how effective Carson can be as an individual talent; surrounded with a capable cast, maybe he could lead a team to the playoffs that could make up for his deficiencies (no mobility, terrible accuracy, questionable leadership). But the reality is this: before Reggie and Allen were in charge of this organization, Al Davis made the Raiders a cluster**** of a team. Look at all the positions that need answering for:

DE
DL
OL
You really expect the team to compete with those flaws? And did you expect Reggie to fix all those problems with an out of whack payroll and terrible contracts in one offseason? There are NO answers to these issues on the roster, and there's no way he's going to fix all of them right away. And if you want to say that Hue Jackson would have made the team competitive, consider that Hue hasn't gotten any attention from other teams for a significant role and it wasn't Reggie who fired him, but Mark Davis himself. So you want to blame anyone for that one, blame the owner.
Carson isn't the answer here, because he isn't surrounded by better than solid players who make up for his faults and isn't going to be around by the time this team has those players. If Carson truly cared about winning, he would 1) consider a pay cut for the sake of bettering the team (since he infamously said he was fine money-wise when he "retired" from the Bengals) and 2) be open to opportunities elsewhere in the league, since it's clear Oakland will not be competing within the next two years.

dawg, you need to face reality, the Raiders are rebuilding ...and Reggie inherited a crappy salary cap situation and he's trying to clean the mess up, if Palmer is traded, we will unload his massive contract and free up money to fill up the team with players. I'm guessing if Palmer is traded and DHB is cut we will have closed to 30 mil and beside next year Draft and Free Agent market looks loaded w/ talent. I'm already expecting us to suck this coming year, i'm willing to give Reggie few more year since a great/good team isn't build within a year. Look at the 9ers, they had the same players for 5+ years before they all started clicking under Jim Harbough.
