I am not mad at this move ,especially since it almost guarantees we go defense or offensive line if we don't trade down with the 3rd pick.

“@VicTafur: Raiders appear to be $7.1 million under the cap with Flynn’s restructure and Palmer’s pending departure.”

Palmer's value (hint- its more than Flynn's)
By Pete Prisco CBS Sports

These are the 2012 regular-season numbers for two quarterbacks.

Quarterback A: 3,817 passing yards, 7.2 per attempt, 22 touchdown passes, 10 interceptions, 59.7 completion percentage and a passer rating of 87.7.

Quarterback B: 4,018 yards 7.1 per attempt, 22 touchdown passes, 14 interceptions, a 61.1 completion percentage and a passer rating of 85.3.

Those numbers are similar, right?

Well, quarterback A is Baltimore's Joe Flacco.

Quarterback B is Carson Palmer.

Yes, I know Flacco has had playoff success, and he won a Super Bowl this past February, but the point of the exercise is to show that Palmer isn't the chump many are making him out to be.

The Raiders want to trade Palmer. He supposedly wants out. They will certainly do so now that they have agreed to a deal to acquire Matt Flynn from Seattle.

Once again, what are the Raiders thinking? Just Stupidity, Baby.

In no way, shape or form is Flynn in the same class as Palmer. In studying Flynn last year, I saw a guy with an adequate arm who would seem to be nothing more than a system quarterback.

Palmer is so much more -- when he has a chance.

In Oakland, the line was horrible at times. He had to deal with a team crushed by injuries. Often, his best receivers were not even dressed because of injuries. The defense was terrible, and the Raiders played a lot of catch-up football.

The Raiders traded away two premium picks to get Palmer, and in two seasons he certainly didn't pan out.

Arizona would be wise to land Palmer. Now I know the Cardinals don't want to give up more than a late-round pick to get him, but he would be a perfect fit in Bruce Arians' mad-bomber offense.

Arians loves the deep ball. Larry Fitzgerald will love Palmer throwing deep strikes to him.

Fitzgerald averaged 11.2 per catch last season, which wasn't even better than Andre Roberts, who averaged 11.9 per catch for the Cardinals. You know something is wrong when Wes Welker averages more per catch than Fitzgerald.

Palmer had 10 pass plays of 40 yards or more last year. That's the same number as Matt Ryan and more than Aaron Rodgers (nine) and Tom Brady (eight). Flacco, the deep bomber, had 12.

Palmer to Fitzgerald would be lethal.

It makes too much sense for Arizona to land Palmer. They have a talented roster -- the line needs upgrading in the draft -- but they will be a much different team with Palmer taking snaps.

Arizona has to find a way to make this work.

This could be like Kurt Warner landing in their lap all over again.

**** that article. Did it also mention how the Ravens have a superiorly talented team than the Raiders??? Is there any one position the Raiders have better talent at than the Ravens? One position?

did the person writing that article even consider Warner was league mvp and super bowl champion/mvp before he even set foot in Arizona. Palmer has never won a playoff game.

good luck to Carson tho. having one of the best wideouts and a pretty good defense, also Arians seems like a solid coach.

Love the moves thus far.

If we can get ANYTHING for Palmer's contract I'll be stoked.

I'd hate to get rid of him for Flynn, but the Raiders simply cannot pay him 15 million to be a loser.

I do like the Flynn deal. At WORST we get a very good backup for Pryor or whoever is drafted next year or whatever.

I think the Geno Smith talk can come to a rest now though. No way Reggie takes him with the 3 overall. I see either Dline or Oline, which I'll be more than happy for. I'll also be stoked with a trade down to get a 2nd possibly.

Tracey Porter signs 1 year deal.

Vet cb, played well with Dennis Allen in N.O. Got hurt last year.

Good pickup. I wanted him last year, was pissed he signed with Denver.

Let hope he can play more than Bartell and Spencer.

Carson Palmer was in AZ having dinner with Execs last night. Deal should be done by tonight.

I don't think it is stupidity on the Raiders. I think it was just that time.

I consider myself a Carson Palmer fan and all, but He would definitely be wasting away on a team that needs at least 2-3 years to fix everything.

The Raiders got themselves cap relief, and Palmer is able to go into what looks like a more stable place. He is indeed 33 and speaking of Kurt Warner, I remember him talking about how playing in the desert really helped him out as far as staying loose.

Best of luck to Palmer and thanks for trying.

This QB competition should be very exciting

I'm hoping Pryor is working on being a NFL QB and not just doing conditioning to be one of these hybrid QBs we see now.

Deal is done..

Carson Palmer and 2013 7th rd pick to Arizona for 2013 6th round pick and a conditional (starts 13 games) 2014 7th round pick.

So we dump Palmers huge salary, save 6 mil and jump 47 spots in the draft. I'm COOL with that.

Anyone wanna buy a Palmer jersey?

No, but we should put our money down for a Clowney jersey.

I'm going to keep saying this until he becomes a Raider.

:smokin finally no more Palmer & like Tracy Porter signing. Hope draft treat us good & we finda backup rb for DMC

Well, hopefully Carson has protection in Arizona. Would like that conditional pick very much.

Damn,
Great job by Oakland dumping Carson.
Arizona just helped them save so much money by not havin to cut him.

The great thing about Flynns deal is his 1st year is guaranteed and his 2nd year is not, so it's a win-win. If he plays well, keep him. If not, you have even more cap space in 2014 to make a run at a better QB or draft from a much better class.

Even though I'm a Charger fan, I'm happy to see Oakland finally making some smart moves instead of boneheaded ones. I want our division to be competitive again, not just an easy title for the Broncos like last year :{

Yeah. I can't believe it.

Raiders may have upwards of $50 million, yes 50 million, in cap space next year with all of this years cap dumps.

In two years for a rookie GM to accomplish that is phenomenal.

And people still want Reggie McKenzie fired. :{ I'm willing to give dude a 3 year extension based off of this years offseason.
