I don't think you know what the term "exotic car" means.

A current Mazdaspeed3 is faster in a straight line and around curves than almost every car in it's price range. Is it exotic? A BMW M3 is considerably superior to any ride in it's class right now, is it an exotic car? The 2001 E55 is NOT superior to any car right now, nor was it that dominant back in it's day. A real exotic is a Porsche Carrera GT, a Lamborghini LP640, Ferrari 458... and the E55 (especially the old one), doesn't belong in the same city as the cars I just listed.

The E55 isn't as rare as you're making it out to be, and just cause it's "rare" doesn't make it an exotic. If that's an exotic car, than by those same terms the Audi RS4 must also be an exotic car. Which it is not, by a long shot.

It's true that there isn't a definitive definition for an "exotic" car. People would argue on what qualifies as one for hours and get no where in the end. However, classifications usually fall to rarity, uniqueness and power. Racing history and collectability also plays a role in the distinction.

As for the E55, it' a nice car and it was impressive the years it was released but would I, personally, qualify it as an exotic? Not exactly. There was a year when less than 1,000 were made but the year before and after that, a lot were made. Maybe that specific year E55 might be considered exotic if there isn't enough left. I honestly don't know but to me, it is somewhat watered down because of the E320/E430 that litters the market right now. Again, that is just how I view it. If I want to consider it exotic, it has to stand out and not blend in and the E55 won't get much stares, the body just isn't unique enough for me.

i'm pretty sure the only point he was questioning is how you seem to correlate rarity with how exotic a car is.
it appears that you're saying rarity is proportional to how exotic a car is.  would that make a ford rs200 more exotic than virtually any production car today?  they only made 200.  ever.  it's a ford escort.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_RS200
if i bought a corolla in the most rare color, with the most rare interior possible, with the most rare trim configurations, and it turned out to be 1 off cause it's so wack, that puts it on exotic status?  i dont think you need to be a certain age to have an opinion on what defines an exotic

So let me get this straight: an exotic is defined by how rare a car is?

The dude above me with the Ford RS200 post is spot on. You telling me cars like the Brabus Smart Fortwo are exotic? Get out of here with that. There is limited correlation to how rare a car is and whether it's exotic or not. Since there are fewer special edition E55s in the world than Lamborghini Gallardos, does that make the Lambo less exotic? Just cause a car is limited edition or special release doesn't make it exotic at all.

What other cars do you consider exotic? Most people would agree that any high performance variant of a standard-production car would not be considered as exotic. The M5? M3? RS4? S4? S65? C63? Are those all exotic cause they too have limited production runs?

Yeah I am a kid. I'm not old enough to buy cigarettes but that doesn't change the fact that my opinion of what's exotic is invalid... especially when I have OTHER PEOPLE as the backbone for my opinions. The debate over whether an E55 is exotic doesn't matter at all. This is a discussion board... and people will argue over things they don't agree with. As for your last sentence, speak on what I know and not what I think? That's funny cause in your second sentence you said there is no exact definition to an exotic.

So all in all, cop ahead and an E55, and go tell people about your new "exotic car". I'm sure you'll get lots of props and daps, especially if you tell them it's exotic.

LoL...honestly, you're the one who talking just to talk. Lets see E39 M5 vs w210 e55. Both in the 70k range new, E55 350Hp-M5 400Hp, better performance car M5. I'm literally laughing at the fact that you think Designo two tone leathers make it an Exotic. I worked for Mercedes, I've driven every Mercedes car except for the SLR and SLS. Ask anybody with any common knowledge of cars, they will tell you that a e55 is not an exotic.

BTW, RS6 and M5> E55

You must be trollin....
