Institutional and systemic racism, soul-crushing oppression, white privilege, marginalization, racial profiling, hate crimes, etc. are things happening NOW IN THE PRESENT. We aren't imagining this. This isn't some vague, suspicious feeling we have -- this is reality that even enlightened white people acknowledge.

The conversation has def got interesting in this thread. Hatred is def a major issue in society and I don't see it leaving because America was built on the dichotomy of Black vs White. Bacon's Rebellion was the last time Blacks and Whites from various classes shared true solidarity and rebelled against the elite. After Bacon's rebellion race was used as a tool by white elites to gain white support and force blacks into second caste living. As I mentioned earlier, we must never ignore history because it always plays a role in the cobtemporary. We need a modern day Bacon's rebellion but I don't see it happening because many(not all) whites still see blacks as inferior rather than individuals who are fellow humans in a struggle against the rich. Whites were granted privileges based on their race that others weren't granted and I don't think the masses of whites are willing to give up their privileges for the betterment of all, which is why we live in a us(white) vs them(blacks and other minorites who are unwilling to attempt to assimilate to white supremacy) society. People try to avoid talking about race but this country was built on race and the dichotomy of white and black, which is why poor whites in Appalachia will call president Obama an ape,N word, voodoo doctor, and question his citizenship although he's harvard educated and half white. In America the definition of a true American is a white person. It's up to whites as a masses to push for change in society because they are the dominate group and culture in our society. Sadly I don't see that happening because they would be forced to have to compete on a level playing field, which historically they never had to do.
