Racist or Clueless?

So I'm walking in the park today with my gf. Two old old white guys approach us and one asks "Which prison did you break out of?". I sort of, shocked, ask him again what he says... Dude repeats. I'm wearing a striped RL rugby so I just point to the horse and tell him it's a polo shirt. He sort of laughs with the embarrassed "oh!" and we move on... His buddy had a NRA hat on.

Racist or clueless? Guys looked like they just rolled out of Alabama in the 1950's 2010. For the record, I'm mixed...

Not racist. Just a joke you may have taken the wrong way I think.
You were probably wearing something like this, right?

Not taking shots lol. Just an extreme comparison.

He could have just been trying to make a joke, stripes and all. Who knows?

I would need to hear how he said it to come to a conclusion.

The way it sounds though it seemed like a joke.

Still kind of rude though.

If you weren't wearing a rugby shirt, I would call that racist. But since you were, I think he was just making a joke about the shirt and the stripes.

We sort of thought about that, with jumpsuits being orange, but I dunno... Seemed surprised when I told him what the shirt was.

I kind of hate how old people are always given a "their old and don't know any better" pass tho

Well, considering that they were old, they probably remember when prisoners rocked the striped clothes.

In good fun or not, still an ignorant old man who doesn't know any better.

Not to mention right next to the park is a local police headquarters.

Not racist at all, he made a comment on your attire not your nationality.

If you're going to take that racially, you need to grow thicker skin. There are worst things he could say to you.

and remember don't eff with old people...

If I "took it racially", he would've been taking a swim in the park pond. Obviously I shrugged it off. It was more odd to me than getting offended so slow down.

This guy was way older than epic beard man, but he had a deadly looking cane...
