Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

What's even worse is that I don't even think most of these artists have streaming revenues as part of their contracts so they may not even be seeing anything from it. This is why I believe there's such a big effort to change the rules on what it takes to go gold, platinum and all of that. It appeases the artist.

The famous story of Mike Tyson and Robbin Givens
The biggest ****** get beat senseless by little women
Look at Sam Rothstein, he gave his whole world to Ginger
Even these bosses be slippin, I catch that
Try to be more flawless wit it, calculated king of the city
Christopher Walken wit it, I admire his Empire, as did Biggie
Machine Gun Funk, out of the Bose
Bubba Kush & Hindu Skunk previously rolled
You know the game chump, your chick chose
Better luck next time Captain Save a
Jets, Drugs, and Paper
Sex, sport cars and vacations

I've literally said all of this

but I'm the hating old head.

i dont think ive ever disagreed with you on that topic

unless youre speaking in general and not to me...ur prolly taking two different convos and morphing them lol

and the labels are the ones who negotiate with the streaming services. Are artist ever going to go on strike for a higher percentage?

The NBA has to open their books to show their revenue to negotiate salary cap/salaries.

Record labels will never reveal what they're making off those same songs. So yeah, an artist will get checks for life as long as their songs are being listened too, but so are record labels. For doing less work.

****s crazy. And they actually convinced some artist that streaming is better for them. Why in the world would they think a record label would be negotiating for their best interest? When they go to Spotify and Pandora they're negotiating for themselves.

I listened to this yesterday. Good insight from people in the industry.

They say real ****** don't say they real, well **** ***** I'm real
And if he can't break bread he fake
I had one more buck on my plate
It was me and bro, we was in the store
And both of us got fifty centy cakes

Labels raping *****s since the beginning and these dudes think they winning. Master P showed dudes the blueprint way back when and they still signing the dotted line to see a lil bit upfront.

What Master P did will never be replicated especially not in the streaming era because the only money in music comes from the convenience that a streaming service can offer compared to them being able to make 15-20 bucks a pop back then. You aren't getting people to individually buy projects again on a mass scale. You might have your dedicated fans but a million people aren't buying your **** individually for 10 dollars ever again.

Not to mention the Priority deal that took it over the top won't be replicated simply because Master P happened. 80-20% in favor of the artist is dead. Now could someone replicate the dynamic by dealing directly with the streaming services? Maybe. But even then there's still the problem of them charging you to upload and charging fans to listen. They still ******* you.

I'll admit I'm inconsistent, biased, and often willed by whatever I find to be entertaining enough to warrant the additional energy but in the words a fine young man by the name of Red, "That was different"

Case by case scenario. Different situations cause for different reactions.

Dudes signing their lives away just for a couple chains, an LV bag, and rented cars
