To show the difference in the world today, and how it's a little unfair how we talk about Michael Jordan and judging him based on today's expectations of celebs.

Janet Jackson made a political statement about George Floyd. I realized she hasn't said anything all these decades since what Jimmy & Terry wrote for her. Now with social media and probably not feeling she's on a ledge by herself to dodge arrows she's felt empowered.

Imagine if Rihanna or Beyonce just stayed silent on issues and how much heat they would get. Nobody ran to Janet for her opinion on the La Riots or Rodney King.

That's why I say it was a different era that post Kareem, Ali, Jim Brown that Michael Jordan grew up in and his attitude wasn't unusual for his era. Now he knows he can speak to the Charlotte Observer on race.

First time hearing him. Bout to throw on all Blue.

Same, but he got something. IDK why son spelled his name like that, but he got something.
Also, I've been noticing more black/latino gang interactions. Is not now how it use to be in out West?
Weren't Latinos banned from joining predominantly black gangs % vice versa at one point?

I know B-Real is a Blood. I don't know if that's a latino set or what.

I'm not sure about interviews & stuff, but Janet has pretty much always been political in her music whether that be in regards to being a a black woman, a black person, & a woman. In fact it probably held her back, prone to harsher criticism for being a vocal black woman, & made them want to get her out the paint the way they did. **** Justin Timberlake too, he's a two-faced coward.

This is why I respect & hold Janet Jackson in such high regard. Touching on the things that she touched on during that timeframe as a superstar was very risky. Janet Jackson always spoke up & deserves nothing but praise for doing so. She never straddled the fence & did "Black or White" thing like Michael (no disrespect intended) . Janet is/was Proud Black Woman.

Here's 2 songs for example:

Janet is black af:

Janet was blackballed by the music industry for a good 5 years after the Super Bowl. Her music has always had a more conscious slant, but "Rhythm Nation" will always be her boldest statement, because everything on that record still speaks to today's world.

It's not unfair at all. Mike had a blatant racist running for office in his home town and he had zero to say. Nobody was asking Mike to join the NOI and change his name. Just let the people know you are aware and use your voice.

And the statement he put out sounds like a man that has spent 30 years being a "good boy" and now he's tired of it.

to me he definitely has that new west sound.
got potential like a lot of these dudes g perico, poly, traffic.
just need the right direction imo, they all really shine over a certain style of beats(g funk)

feel like YG is similar in that sense too, I love him when he's rapping over that west coast sound.
he's being wasted on all those dj mustard beats imo.
