This album basically started a movement
RIP Rawkus
I really enjoyed Funcrusher Plus but that was about it from Rawkus with only
a couple exceptions...I was kind of anti-backpack rap...Rawkus wasn't my thing.
Wasn't my movement.
For context, I guess between DJ Stretch & Bobbito - I fell more into the Stretch camp although Operation Doomsday is a classic if that makes sense.
The only other Rawkus I messed with was Big L's posthumous 2000 album released
through Rawkus (if that even counts) and a Rawkus mixtape that I've still never seen
posted anywhere.
The mixtape has a Mos Def freestyle on it which starts like this...
"...The whole world gone know Mos.
Stand out like Shaq in the low post.
Stand out like goal post - I'm so dope...
My ish gone be bangin when my baby girls is grow folks..."
I was never a big Mos Def fan either... but I wonder if (some of) those lyrics/freestyle
made it onto one of his albums?
cause it is fire.
