For those of you that are in their second go in their relationship (broke up the first time, and then got back together again a few years later), has been as sweet as the first time? What steps did you take to get there? I always hear that it's never the same.

We were together for 4.5 years she went away to college we said we would give space. She came back we were supposed to get back together....things went smooth for 1 week....found out she was banging some dude while we were exclusive to each other.

I am glad we tried but it all comes down to why you broke up in the first place. It takes a lot to regain trust and really if you don't trust one another you are screwed in the long run.

Some relationship deserves the second go. Depends on the situation. But like dude said no trust. No care

Don't do it. You guys broke up for a reason and you have better chances of making a new relationship work than repairing an old one that already failed once.

sometimes timing is just really bad.

Look, we've all been there and can only offer advice. If you really want to get back together with this chick then go for it. You will learn in the process I guess, but don't expect everything to be peaches and cream. Residue from your last relationship always comes back up to bite you in the butt.

I actually married my 2nd go round. I met her in 1998 and we hit off, but we both had alot going on in our lives. We went our separate ways and I ended up marrying my now ex-wife. Few months or so after me and the ex-wife split me and her decided to try again since we were older and figured it was worth a shot. 3 years later we're married. Doesn't work that way all the time, but it was a blessing for me because I don't want anyone else, but her.

No, I'm just going to college. I'm still relatively young. Timing sucks.

No, the timing is perfect... for you to move on. Enjoy college my dude, don't let time pass you by while you worry about an ex. trust.

It seriously never works. If it was meant to be you would stay together. (If you believe in that)

The one rare exception is when two people who love each other fall apart and realize how bad they really need one another.

When you are in Highschool, College or a young professional.....that is the time to be selfish, put your studies/career first. Invest in yourself (something that is not going anywhere anytime soon). Never make drastic changes for another person or put yourself in a compromising position for another person that forces you to make critical sacrifices. Spend time getting to know yourself....too many people feel they need to be in relationships and don't grow as an individual.

Second....Third...Fourth chances can work out if the people are mature enough to do so. Most people are immature and can't deal with the details of a separation and can't look past certain aspects of being apart. If you can let someone go acknowledging the timing is not right and welcome them back if an opportunity presents itself at a better time down the road and the feelings are still there and mutual.....it's all good.

I was in an identical situation heading into freshman year. I regret trying to make it work. It really held me back in terms of meeting new people (read: women) in residence.

Unless you think this girl is one, I wouldn't bother. There's plenty to do in college. There's no point in stressing about extraneous issues like this when you could be a) studying, b) networking or c) partying.

Who knows? Come next summer, maybe you give it another shot.

I've been there OP, and it didnt work for me. I do know a friend that it worked for and he and his girl made it through 4 years of school and are now together again and will probably be getting married.

If you feel that strongly about it, then go for it, its better that you go for it and fail rather than sitting around wondering what might have been.

^ word...no need for the emotional roller coaster you're about to hop on...gonna be cool for a month or two then it's all downhill.

andddd you're in college??
like dude said, perfect timing TO MOVE ON.
focus on school, $$$ and them yambs.
effffff a relationship!

If you're just going to college OP, just move on. You'll meet plenty of other girls and along the way hopefully you'll learn what a real relationship entails. It sucks for now, but you'll get over it.

Na I'm with my wife I had the 2nd go round with. My bad :lol

Who knows guys. I'm just kind of bummed out. We got along great and everything, but the distance will just be a lot. I hate how things turned out.

No ones going to listen to outside opinions in something like this, youre going to do what you want and thats cool with me.

This.
Do what makes you happy OP. People will tell you go out and get new yambs and what not but it really depends on who you are
Like me I ain't one to attack every decent look breathing woman
If it works then it works and if it doesn't then time to move on be cool about things and always remember your own happiness comes first

I've never envisioned myself getting back together. The most difficult part was when we still tried to remain friends. Once in a while, the inadvertant hand grab thing would occur and it would be weird. Eventually it was too painful and now we are 'enemies' and ignore each other.

Your too young OP. Keep on living and thank your NT brethren for the truth.

At that age there are way too many fine ladies out there to choose one from.
