Selling gold and tag watches

has anybody ever sold their gold necklaces or gold in general?  If so whats the best way to go about it?  I have a gold necklace that i want to sell and not get ripped off for it.  Also came by a tag watch through my job and was wondering if it was worth it to sell or not...

Find out how much your gold weighs....
Calculate according to the carats ....

Find the number and work with a jewler... They always want more gold. Don't sell your gold if u don't have to.. If u wanna sell it that bad go ahead .
