With their win tonight, the Boston Celtics go to a record of 26-3. Doing the math, we see that after 58 games they will be 52-6 (not saying its going tohappen, but you never know), and in a total of 82 games they are on pace for 73-9/74-8 record, which would ultimately break the Bulls mark of 72-10.

Now, I dont think they are up there to touch the Bulls team of 72-10. That was a pretty amazing team. But, with looking at what Boston is on pace for, a fewquestions now come up.

1) What record do you think Boston will have after 82 games?
2) If the Celtics to stay on pace for what is predicted, how would you rank them in the history of NBA Great teams? Can they be mentioned as a great NBA team?

I think they are going to be around what Dallas had last year, around 67-15. As for how they can be listed in NBA history, I have no idea where to put them.Insight NT?

I think they may get near 70 wins or something...but i don't see them winning the NBA Finals even if they make it there. Detroit beat em on their floor andI think they're a serious threat to them, and whoever comes out the West will be tough. As last season proved, what you do in the season doesn't reallymatter when the postseason begins.

This never works n the end the way people think it will in the beginning.

You can't throw a team together and expect greatness to be a result.

That Bulls team: BUILT

This Patriots team: BUILT

Great teams are BUILT, not just thrown together. They have to gel together; not just the players, but the coaches and trainers and everyone. All the people ona particular team learn how to do what's right by failing, and then one year, all of the lessons they've learned TOGETHER come together for ahistorical season. That's what happened with those Bulls. They didn't just pick up Pippen and Rodman from other teams and some average coach fromanother team. They were built together. Some had been there longer than other, but the core was built.

Like I said, same with this year's Pats team.

Do I think the Celtics will do well this season? Yes.
Do I expect them to win it all? I'm not even 100% positive they'll win the East.

But (getting back to your post):
Do I expect them to threaten 72-10? Absolutely not.

It doesn't matter where they end up. Its about the postseason and like the New England Patriots the job is not finished yet. The real test begins.

65 wins, 68 wins if they get Smush

I see them getting arounf 68 to 70 games. IF they break the bulls mark and win the chip I don't see why they wouldn't be the greatest team in nbahistory. But people like to live in the past and don't like to say teams now are better then team from back in the day. Looks at the pats. They are betterthen the 72 dolphins but there is so much hate for the pats I would get laughed at for saying that.

Let's wait until February and March after Ray, KG and Piece have played 37 minutes a game and they have to go on road trips through Texas, as well as theother top Western Conference teams.

62-20, but shouldn't we wait for them to get some more quality wins though? They still haven't even played the best of the West yet, are West of theMississippi for the first time this season.

I don't think it is realistic to think we will get 60 wins.

We will slow down like the Mavs team did. We will end up with a solid 60 something wins.

Not right now. They have to prove themselves in the playoffs first. To be in the history of great NBA teams, they have to do what the earlierCeltics teams has done, they have to do what the Lakers teams have done, the Bulls, etc. They've done nothing in the playoffs yet, & if they dosomething come playoff time, it has to be for a couple more years to come. They can coast through the regular season but when they go against what a true greatteam is in the Finals (if they make it that far lets just say) the Spurs. I don't see them beating the Spurs, I don't even know how they would doagainst a couple other West teams in a 7 game series.

I expect a similar second half fade as what the Pistons did a couple years ago. They came out lights out and grabbed all-star spots for 4 players but ended uplosing like 17 games in the regular season or something. Then went on to lose in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Heat. That Pistons team was centeredaround the starters and there was really no bench. I think Boston has a better bench that Detroit did that year, but I don't think that their startersoffer as much in all facets of the game as that starting 5 for the Pistons did. Who knows though, we'll see what happens in the second half.

If I were them I wouldn't try to go for the record. Recent teams that have tried flame out in the playoffs/

I have a feeling that they'll be out trying to prove something all. season. long.

72-10 is awfully tough. But they'll at least want 70 if they get close to it.

I agree instead I see them getting 65-68 wins. That is only because I see them resting starters after what happened to Dallas last year.

66-16.

As much as I'd like to think we'll go 75-7, someone has to get hurt, or even sit out some games with soreness. We can expect Pierce to miss one or twogames with the elbow, Allen 3-4 more with the ankle, a few of those would be losses.

Plus at some point, you'll have to play good teams. Most of the losses will come after the all star break, when their schedule gets real.

I've seen it before. Easy opening schedule only means you finish the season with more difficult teams

I'm not convinced yet. They've done extremely well playing against the East and pulling away close victories against the powerful East Coast teams likethe Pistons and the Magic. On their short West Coast swing, their last 2 victories were relatively close as well (104-96 vs. Seattle, 104-98 vs. Utah) and theyhave the Lakers and Rockets next which should be formidable opponents. But as someone mentioned earlier, bring this post back after the ASG and we'll havea better idea then.
