It's a car you'll be driving, not us man.. the decision is yours if you want it. Get it.

i mean pending certain issues, the mkv gti 4 door is one of my favorite cars. id say do it.

I'm pretty sure their reliability isn't so good.

But if you want a VW Golf, go with the Mk5 R32.

Try to drop it down a little in price.

Aside from that, it's a sweet car. My dad has an '07 and I've driven it from time to time. Pretty quick with that turbo.

Get a coupe!

MKIV R32 >>> MK5
how many miles does it have? 18k sounds a little steep.

Mehh, I personally wouldn't go for it.

18k still leaves a lot of room for deprecation over the next few years.

Maintenance on VWs is almost as expensive as much nicer cars like Audi or BMW.

My mk4 gti with a vr6 is bullet proof.

As stated mk4 r32 is better. Mk5 is sti prices and if you'd cop a r32 over a sti you're crazy.

With that said I'd never pay 18k for a gti. I'm so bored of my car.

^I have no source, except from a friends mouth - but.. I've heard the MKV r32 was quicker around the ring than the equivalent MY STi? Any truth into that?

I have always admired the MKV GTi -

Honestly, only if you want.
For that asking price you're probably better off getting something else.
Personally, in your situation, I'd get a WRX instead.

P.S. I own an MKVI GTI and love it.
