...a playoff spot with a team without a winning record.  The BEST possible representative in the playoffs from the NFCW will be an 8-8 team.  And who knows if that will even happen? Its entirely possible that someone could win the division at 7-9...

Meanwhile teams like the Giants, Packers, Bucs are needing to win out to be able to steal the final playoff spot in the NFC

STL lost to Detroit 44-6 and ATL 34-17
SF lost to Green Bay 34-16 and Tampa 21-0
SEA lost to NYG 41-7 and ATL 34-18

Should the Competition Committee be doing anything about it?  There are 3 good teams whos playoff hopes will be coming down to the final week of the season while a Division winner will come down who isn't as bad as the other 3 teams its playing against...

One of these teams is about to give New Orleans (assuming they stay in position for the 5th seed) a free ride to the Divisional round...

Those other teams fighting for their playoffs lives had a chance to win every game they played, they didnt, their fault.

Like I have said a few times already, this has been going on for the better part of 2 decades in the NBA.....and people are making a HUGE deal about it happening ONCE in the NFL.

Those teams need to stop worrying about what the NFC West is doing and win their games. Simple as that.

Obviously this is being discussed elsewhere... No threads on NT for it yet and from what ive seen it hasnt been discussed specifically on here beyond the occasional "NFC West

Division winners deserve to be in the playoffs period.

Only thing I might like to see done is the home field distiniguished strictly by record. Meaning that the winner of the NFC West wouldn't host a playoff game.

No reason to be upset and have drastic changes to the playoff format just because something like this happens once every few years. It just so happens that this is a really bad case. It won't be like this every year.

I just hope the rams win the division, I would hate to see the seahawks in the playoffs, they're too boring

A team that cant finish the regular season beating more teams than it lost to deserves a chance at playing for a championship? I dunno if I can agree with that...

Rams certainly seem to be the better team in the division, but the only rationale I can think of for hoping Seattle wins the division is that they can provide the most competition given that they usually play very well at home and have amazing home field advantage.

They haven't been playing good at home lately, but if a team from this division is to host a playoff game, I think Seattle is the team.

No team in the NFC West deserves to be in the playoffs but this rare instance doesn't merit a rule change. I don't think any of these teams are going to be that bad come next season.

Besides, Sam Bradford is going to smoke the rest of the division
