So Im about to sign up to be a Substitute Teacher vol. Dangerous Minds

So now that I have graduated from college, I been trying to find a nice job somewhere.

But until that time comes, my Mom wants me to sign up to be a substitute teacher here in Cincinnati

Do you guys think its a good move for sum extra income?....also i didnt go to school for teaching, I went for Broadcast Media?

Is it a good move?

Kids are ruthless these days.

But I say try it out, maybe you will find that teaching is actually your calling.
 
Aw man what dude before me said DO not take the job seriously, you will get roasted by little high school kids that think they're doing it, ive seen it happen so many times. This one time we had a sub that looked like Keuna Reeves and ppl were clowning this dude the whole period...didn't even take roll...

That song used to scare the ##@+ out of me at night.##@+ was real though.
 
No-one takes substitute teachers seriously, well i know we didnt back in high school

if u do take the job i would advise u to just tell the students they can do whatever they want just dont be too loud. There gonna do that anyway regardless of whether u tell them or not though.

Ha yea..i do a lot of motivational speaking in high schools now...but the thing is, they don't have too many people around their age to ACTUALLY relate too. Most of the teachers are in their 30's so the kids wont take them serious. But you're right...these kids are ruthless!

high school and elementary will give you the least problems, depending on the class and school

I barely got any subs in elementary school.
HS kids definitely are more trouble than middle school kids.
 
I subbed this year in San Francisco...subbing can be a bit stressful, because you dont know what you're stepping into. But if you show kids you can be humorous, straightforward, and not super uptight, you will be good. Some subs act like they have something to prove, and kick out students left and right, handing out detentions, and in constant battles with students.....that's never a good luck.
At the end of the day, it's up to the kids if they want to do the work. Some will, some wont, but I never FORCE any kid to do the work. I'm no one to them, and most kids that will push your buttons could care less about getting kicked out.
Once the kids realize you are chill and not over the top, you will be good cause they will make sure to tell the teachers they liked you as a sub, which means more calls from that teacher, and eventually from more teachers. This is ever more true in inner city schools, since some subs aint trying to go into some of those schools after hearing stories or like someone else mentioned, getting made fun of.

There's other stuff I can advise you on for subbing, including how to get your name out there, so just PM me or post in here.
 
here subbing is the go to for college students who can't find work...you can sub while still in school if you have a certain amount of credits..

they call you every morning w/a job and you just say if you want it or not...

Pretty much what i tell everyone i know that wants to be a teacher/sub. Im in high school trust me i seen this go down countless times

Sub for elementary school if anything.
Stay away from Middle schools and High schools!
