STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Damn big dawg did you go thru surgery?? I'm going through it now without surgery - it has been only almost 4 months tho. Still can't really walk normally (not too bad tho), the calf on the ruptured Achilles shrunk lol, one Achilles hella fatter than the other, can't really balance on the injured side without wombling, can't do a single calf raise to save my life, etc.

Mind talking about your experience a bit? Did you ever fully recover?

It happened to my non dominant leg, and it took a year for complete recovery. My rehab started the day after surgery by balling my foot into a fist from reps, simply to keep the foot strong, and massage, stim. Three weeks of this led to picking up a towel with my foot, balling up the towel with my foot, and gentle isometric contractions of both the gastroc and soleus muscle. So for the gastroc, I contracted while standing for ten reps, three sets. For the soleus, I did them sitting, same rep scheme, same set scheme. I did this for about four to six weeks. After that, I began walking on a treadmill, then gradually doing physio ball quarter and half squats for ten reps, four sets. The ball keeps you neutral, not allowing the tendon to stretch too far. To recover ice packs for ten minutes, the hot soaks for twenty. I was able to bike two weeks after that program set in, then began walking stairs, stairclimber with a minimal range of motion. 5 months in, I began to do weighted exercises light, but with a bit of confidence. I began to be able to do light ten minute runs after six months. A year in, I was able to skip rope the doing footwork drills on court, without swelling or pain, also being able to do sprints full court. I had no problem getting my spring back due to it not being my dominant leg, but I had to be extra careful upon landing. That took a minute to get back, getting over the fear of it happening again.

My rack, lat pulldown, bench, barbell and weights all got here today.

I busted both my hands and my right knee yesterday riding. Sitting around waiting for it to get better so I can put this together and get to work.

Guess who's back in the gym my g's!!!!! My guy opened his gym on the low low low again. Best part, 24 hours, I go late, and am the only man there. Whole gym to myself. First day chest and tri's, yesterday leg day. body is cooked today. I love it. Love the soreness. Hadn't worked out in 2.5 months. hurts so good. Even better being able to lift solo and maneuver through the gym at my pace without worry. Everything has been super cleaned, and hand sanitizer everywhere and spray bottles and towels all over. Wonderful. Back in there tomorrow, back and biceps. Monday shoulders and abs. Getting back in rhythm.

Lost a lot of strength. But the muscle memory was there. All of the movements felt natural.

Ready to get more newbie gains, bouta be god mode.

Looting is bad,
but for the Golds gym that was still charging people while being closed for 2 moniths..................I understand

I need to go back to PT for my knee, all my appointments for the year through my insurance ran out before I figured out was wrong. Initially they thought I had chondromalacia so I did 10+ weeks of pt, but I went to a specialist and found out it’s actually RA. My right (dominant) leg lost a lot of size and I have no mobility, strength, or confidence in it. I doubt I could do a 20lb leg extension right now :frown: :frown:

once everything is open again I’m gonna see if I can go back

Ordered Thursday, shipped Friday and I wasn’t expecting it until mid week but these were waiting for me when I came home today.

I low key appreciate the color breaking up my old mundane set and too bad I missed out on the red 55’s:lol: I can’t believe finding a rack would be the last thing I’d be looking for.

I just want one of those all in one weider/macy/bowflex type gyms or some time of pulley machine. and i'll be good.
im cool on going back to the gym for awhile. not doing cardio is bothering me. and not having a sound system. waiting for my friend to drop off that google home for me.

Ordered this vest awhile back from Amazon even though it showed sold out and it just arrived out of the blue earlier.

It was supposed to be my rest day today but I went ahead and tried a circuit with it and I really like the difficulty it added. I plan on going hard to be ready to do The Murph next year.
