STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

You want to know whats really funny, I read it on an webmd forum link below...but only because i jokingly brought it up with the girl i was with right after. She is going for her masters to be a dietitian....we had been talking about working out and certain diets....she was the one who said it to me.

I was like....weird...that....kinda felt different...
her- like bad different
me - no i don't really know how to explain it.
Her - high protein diet can lead to erectile dysfunction and less enjoyable orgasms.
Me - you cereal
her - yep

But it was yambs of the highest order....and she is incredibly smart...i was batting above my average in all regards.

Eat nothing but protein....get big muscles...girls love muscles...get more girls...but less enjoyable sex.....dat struggle?

The 2 LA Fitness gyms by me annoy me. No boxing equipment or heavy bags. Only one of them has a gym but its further and its a tiny, tiny court. I'd do so much more cardio with boxing or basketball as an option.

I'm on the same boat. I'm on the verge of buying my own equipment and putting together a setup at home.

so i've been working with a trainer and lost weight from like 195 to 185 in about 3 weeks.

I eat a greek yogurt and a banana for breakfast, a spinach salad with a meat/protein and usually have almonds or peanuts for a snack. For dinner I have turkey burger or grilled chicken and no bun. All I drink is water. Am I eating to light to get bigger?

Advice for the tall and slim who want to pack on a little mass? Need tips on strength training and diet.

If you'd like to add mass/weight (guessing that's what you mean by getting bigger) then yes. Increase your protein to about a gram per pound of bodyweight. Toss in a sweet potato with your lunch and maybe some eggs with breakfast. Maybe make the greek yogurt a snack and do a small serving of oats with breakfast. You don't want to up your calories too fast though. How much mass are you looking to gain?

get back to 200 but more muscle mass

Youd be really naive to think that "too much protein=sexual dysfunction". Theres soooo many other variables that can be a contributing factor. It's very unlikely that its the protein causing the dysfunction. Its likely from a lack of other nutrients/vitamins/minerals which are being eliminated in place of more protein.

Figure out your maintenance and eat a bit over that. If you're a hard gainer, a pure calculation isn't going to be 100% accurate to your situation, but start by figuring out your maintenance calories (calories requires to maintain your current weight) and count your calories for a few weeks. Once you figure out the right # to maintain your current weight, add about 300-500 calories to that. You don't want to rush it.

Macro wise, 40/40/20 (protein/carbs/fats) is about what you want, but again, you have to figure out which balance you see results from.

Stock up on lean protein sources, green, leafy vegetables, cruciferous vegetables, fruit, complex carbs, and healthy fats.

Supplement wise keep it simple. Whey protein, fish oil, multis, and even creatine monohydrate. An easy way to get your calories in is with shakes. Instead of water, you can use milk. If you want something tasty, you can blend a scoop of whey, a serving of peanut butter, milk (whole, skim, almond), and fruit (I prefer a frozen banana, sometimes blueberries or strawberries) and drink that post workout.

Training wise you want to focus on compound lifts. You don't necessarily have to cut out cardio, but it's going to be tough to add mass if your cardio sessions are burning a lot of calories. Those are just some basics though, I'll try and elaborate more tonight, but I'm sure some of the others can either add or suggest something else that will get you going in the right direction.

Maybe because he gets paid to workout and be in good shape all the time? I see dudes all the time with better physiques then that anyway, no homo. You need to realize a lot of these pics you see of athletes are enhanced wether you want to believe it or not pal.

Uhhh we see Urijah Faber all the time on TV during his fights and he still looks tremendous.

I'm sure it is enhanced in someway. Most photo shoots are used to sell a product so it only makes sense. Quit hating on the dude. He looks different than 99% of people in this world and so do the people you see with "better" physiques.

For real. Dude read something on WebMD Forums and now is all worried. Do some scientific research and report back to us please - that's to the poster of the high protein low test thing. Not saying your fears aren't rationale; I just think it's frustrating when people post up speculation like that without even trying to uncover the science behind it.

^^Yea I looked it up and found web md as his source before he posted his response and thought the same thing. I looked it up because I was curious and it seems that there actually may be some evidence to support it- scarce and weak but there has been research done on it.
