The Combat Jack Show Thread

I listened to the Michelle Obama podcast with Barack out of curiosity.

It was bland.

The lox and Fat Joe do stuff on YouTube from time to time.

I tried to listen to Lil flips pod but there was way too much D riding going on from the jump.

Like Joe and em said, everybody don't need a podcast.

Isn’t Joe Rogan one of those both sides of the fence type dudes? Not sure if I fully back him

No, but he tends to invite both sides to his platform.

Leans more left, he sounds like a libertarian really.

I hate when people say this.

Libertarians are right. These people complaining about mask and the government forcing them to wear them. That's libertarian. The ability to have guns without government restriction. That's libertarian. Libertarians are against affirmative action. Medicare for all, they're against that.

There's nothing left leaning about having those beliefs.

The only thing is libertarians technically are supposed to not be against abortion, but even that's iffy.

I'm pretty positive Rogan has mostly voted republican. Hell he works for the ****in UFC.

I disagree to an extent. I think it’s important to not be so fixed in your thought process that you can’t see other perspectives. Certain issues require you to to see both sides but still acknowledge that the ultimate outcome of a certain decision doesn’t necessarily impact you that greatly to the point where you need to have a definitive opinion.

Khaled is the dude at the jewelry store trying to sell you over priced diamonds.

It is kinda weird for celebrities to hop in without already having that type of audience, ppl have to wanna hear from you in that way

With that said, seem like majority of popping podcasts are by people who already had a big social media following or were tapped in before the podcast

So it makes sense that they would try it out, same thing they doing in rap

Arrogance and narcissism.

And them figuring it's more money and exposure.

And these companies figure, well he has so many instagram followers and people on snapchat.

Even tho they were clowning Joe about Will Smith being on social media and all that, he had a point but typical with him is that it came off as hate and he didn’t express it properly until way later

Celebrities getting into podcasting is kinda wack. It makes sense on their behalf but it does make it harder on smaller people to make it big. And plus they don’t really have **** to talk about. Who really wants to listen to a Michelle Obama or Khaled podcast?

I watched her Netflix doc. I'd like to hear Michele talk to Obama, but I don't want to hear her talk to anyone else.

Finding someone likable is different from wanting to listen to them every week.

From my understanding libertinism is about the individual & their liberty. They're like "how is this the land of the free, but it's illegal for me to shoot dope?", and I understand this mindset. A lot of them probably wouldn't mind wearing a mask if the government wasn't telling them to wear a mask.

Similar to socialism libertarianism may make sense in concept, but is more than likely impossible/unlikely to be implemented in this particular country due to it came to be. We still use the imperial system while pretty much the whole damn world uses the metric system.

Anyone willing to have conversations with nuts like Alex Jones aren't far from them in beliefs. You're giving them your platform and attempting to humanize them, not expose them. Rogan doesn't need someone like that.

Gotta disagree with you on that my g. Not sure how the conversation went with Jones and Rogan, so I’ll say that off rip. But to say that we shouldn’t have dialogue with people like that on sizable platforms dismisses the idea that such a conversation couldn’t be used to our advantage. Imagine putting a proper Black intellectual in front of a racist like that, and have the Black intellectual dismantle every bull**** talking point those types try to purport. Then imagine how many people would then get a chance to see that sort of bs getting picked apart and exposed for the nonsense that it is. It could be a tool if used properly. Again, not sure how Rogan went about the discussion. But there’s value if the platform is used properly.

yeah maybe
but i aint giving no white man the benefit of the doubt
unless i see otherwise

He's having conversations and legitimatizing, not picking apart or challenging. Attracting millions of viewers.

So you think people with large followings should be normalizing conspiracy theorist racist?

Do you know who Alex Jones is?

Do you realize the nutty Sandy Hook dude is racist, or do you feel he's like Schulz and don't think he is?

There’s no value in giving those types a platform, because their followers and supporters don’t act off logic, they act off fear. A black intellectual breaking down Alex Jones’ logic has no real value other than to excite that base.

I feel like I figured this out about Rogan in like 2014, I don’t get why people still don’t see past his facade.

Yeah I’m cool on giving some people voices. And usually with these people who play both sides, you can never really trust them

Fam, I literally said I didn’t watch that interview, and offered a differing opinion of your initial idea of “Anyone willing to have conversations with nuts like Alex Jones aren't far from them in beliefs.”

If that is indeed what happened on Rogan, then I get the criticism.

Yes I know who Jones is. Don’t extrapolate a point I wasn’t trying to make. Joe Budden *** *****

You said you disagree, and didn't watch and don't know what they talked about

And then you said you feel he should have dialogue with people like that.

The same person who said 20 dead kids and all those grieving family and friends was a hoax for gun restrictions. The dude who incites racist and violence.

Ok Schulz.

Learn about your what you're talking about instead of blindly playing contrarian, because I'm starting to question you.

Yep, that's Joe Rogan in a nutshell. I don't necessarily think the dude is a bad person, but he's definitely shared his platform with a few too many awful people and helped them normalize their bs.
That's the thing though, **** is subjective. The clips I saw from the Alex Jones ep were highly entertaining, but objectively speaking, he's a wackjob. A wackjob that a lot of ppl think alike. Just b/c u ignore something it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's important to be aware of things.

Again, I said I disagreed with your initial point of “Anyone willing to have conversations with nuts like Alex Jones aren't far from them in beliefs.” There are plenty of Black intellectuals who could have dialogue with him that could reduce his talking points to absurdities.

I never said Rogan should have dialogue with people like that. I said there could be value in dialogue with people like that if such a platform is used properly to dismantle the bs ideology that’s being presented.

You telling me you’re questioning me for offering a different perspective doesn’t somehow diminish my Blackness bro. You know me on NT, but you don’t know what I’m about in real life. I literally have a court date in a few days for being “out here” on the front lines for this ****.

Cut it out fam. I believe you’re better than that. We as a people are better than that.

I said from the beginning it was used to humanize and not expose. Did you read?

No, you just ran to disagree.

And yes, someone who is cool having conversations with racist and promoting them is most likely what? Yeah, I have a problem with promoting someone who runs to gun rights nuts to rile them up and incite violence. That's why platforms are banning Alex Jones.

First you run to defend Schulz, and then you run to defend Joe Rogan and his ability to have conversations with racist. Damn right I'm going to question your blackness.

The same dude who told your protesting *** to go back to Africa. Yeah, I'm questioning it.

I’ve gotten both sides of the fence vibes from Rogan and I don’t **** with people like that
I disagree to an extent. I think it’s important to not be so fixed in your thought process that you can’t see other perspectives.

That’s who I initially offered a dissenting opinion to.

You picked up on that and came in with:

Anyone willing to have conversations with nuts like Alex Jones aren't far from them in beliefs.

To which I limited the scope of my response to when I said

You’ve grasped at straws and questioned me to suit your own idea of what Black people should and shouldn’t do. Black people aren’t monolithic, so you choosing to ignore the idea that we could see things differently is on you fam. Not me.

Again. We’re better than this pointless back and forth. PM me if you want to discuss further.

I don’t mind any guest that Rogan has on his show, no one can make up my mind for me. I’ve learned about a lot of interesting people and topics through his show.
THIS....Rogan's POD got me through two months of 12hr shifts when those 3 Hurricanes hit in 17'

He's called people out on their BS during the POD ex.. Candace (I hate the skin that im in) Owens , the Vegans etc..

I tend to skip all of the political guest, and go more towards the Military dudes, Neil Degrassse Tyson, some of the comedians, fighters, musicians, Elon Musk.
