The Get Down: Netflix Original

Episode 1 was flames. My man Books wasted no time sampling the Boss's seed.

Episode 2: The start is already on point with the Rose Royce intro :hat

Episode 4 was one of the dopest episodes of TV I ever watched, season was fantastic!

anybody else not feeling the comics/cartoons, or is it just me?

I don't hate it, i'm just like meh... they coulda done without it.....

they played a bigger role in hiphop back then (see wutang)

I could see that being the Series Finale.

Show was ill for real

Binged all 5 episodes last night and pt1 and pt2 are definitely different but in a good way.

I can't see it being the finale w/ so many open stories left to be closed.

Reading through Reddit and supposedly the delay between 1st and 2nd half was due to the scandal and they redid afrika bambaataas role.

Damn didn't know Bam was forcibly topping off young boys.

Yeah they don't really serve a purpose.

Smh I hated that comic book mess.

The ending was terrible. There better be a season 2 with all those cliff hangers. Who knows, Netflix is the king of cliffhangers.

Just finished pt2

really great show, i doubt they make a season 2 (i wish though)

word is this series cost $120 mil to make, its not as big as other netflix series to continue imo

All of this, I feel like they just finished it just to finish it though or try their best too.

heard it da most expensive series ever cuz of cost overuns.

Didn't like the comic book aspect, but I'm sure it was done to cut cost.
Apparently, this is most expensive show to make so that would explain it.

Don't understand why they needed that big of a budget for the project they put together. They shouldn't have went with those well known actors/actresses.

Also does the main character come off as a cornball to anybody else? Dude was chasing shawty around like a lapdog.

Also does anybody feel like Jaden Smith's character is really him?

Well the budget sounds about right.

The show legit makes you think it's the 70s in NYC. All that decor and and visuals- I'm sure cost mad money to recreate

No way set pieces, costumes, vintage rentals and file footage should run that high. They're not the first to do something like this.

They should have took the Straight Outta Compton approach to wardrobe then. Probably could have left the famous actors/actresses out as well.

dude made me uncomfortable whenever he was on the screen :lol

he needs to just come out the closet and stop sticking his painted toenails out the door. he was obviously gay in the series, that whole little thing he had with the white kid was really unnecessary. anyone could've figured it out , didn't need to see him as a cartoon alien falling in love. sorry just really find that kid annoying :lol

Now that I finished this I liked it, but it just had a weirder vibe than part 1. Like I didn't feel the hip hop vibes like part one. I'd love to know the real story behind the cartoons. Episode 4 is it's magnum opus though.
