It's so funny...People criticize police and say they need to do a better job.

They respond with threatening to not do their job at all.

Yeah that makes sense :lol :rolleyes

Don't think they really thought this through :lol

Also, where were changes by SF police afte Oscar Grant was murdered by one of their officers?

A washed up but intellgent QB not standing for a racist national anthem is enough for them to make a change but not one of their own killing a black man in cold blood.

Perfect illustration of the race relation problems in America right now.

He is.
Two weeks ago he had no image except the guy losing his job to Blaine Gabbert. After doing this, he's a hero and in the spotlight. Brilliant ploy by him, he now has some kind of career. Do I believe he's genuine, no. Not even close... I believe he is doing this for himself.

That doesn't mean he doesn't believe in his message and that his message isn't right. It is. But I feel he has ulterior motives. Just how i feel.

You been saying strange **** about the situation from the beginning so this doesn't surprise me coming from you.

If you were really actually paying attention, Kaep has literally nothing to gain from this.

This only hurts his chances of making more NFL money in his career.

I was there until I saw donated $1 million to causes he believes in

maybe being humbled AF woke him up to fight for something, time will tell

Boston is the only racist town doe :rolleyes

seriously though...what kind of BS is this? police union needs thicker skin if what Kap is doing is enough to make them stop working games. grow up

Let them stop working events. Once all hell breaks loose at these games it'll be on them not Kaep. What sense does it make to put the fans at risk because of one mans protest? That makes the police look bad. I hope Kaep sits throughout the season and more and more people join him across the league.

Any bum cop threatening to stop working sporting events is a theatened little ***** and full of ****.

They get paid out the *** for working those events. It's all over time pay and the money comes directly from the NFL/event organizer, not the municipality.

Absolutely.

I dare police to not come to NFL games.

Let the world see just how ignorant and violent the mostly white fans of the league are.

And for what? Because Kaep is standing up to something that the NFL an organization fostered from the talents of black men can still portray the image of a league that cares about nothing but serving a demographic that doesn't care about the race and culture the men entertaining them at the highest level come from.

That was a run on sentence but **** it, I've been fed up with the NFL and I feel like if a lot of the elite black players lose that fear, they can make real change.

Kaep is one thing, but if guys like Antonio Brown, OBJ and etc stand with him there is no way that people could ignore what's happening:

The NFL is the biggest thing on TV in the country. Kaep played in the Super Bowl, he know better than anybody.

He's a smart dude, he knows exactly what he's doing.

Police ain't **** ain't they keep showing why...hopefully the rest of the country that don't live where they terrorize seeing this now ...law enforcement/judicial system needs a total overhaul

Two separate issues.
Also, that wasn't SF it was Bart. Here it's a different force all together. Happened in Oakland as well.

As far as me saying something strange, what's been strange?

Kaep has a long history of being narcissistic and selfish. This is a proven fact, it's not opinion. There has been officer's killing minority after minority year after year... to your point oscar grant was in his back yard (oakland). He's been in the NFL for what... 6 years or there abouts? At anytime has he taken this stance? No... has he taken any stance for that matter when it comes to brutality towards someone of color? Don't believe so. Do I feel he is being genuine? No.

Does he believe what he is saying? Of course he does. But I feel he has a long play and ulterior motives.

I've said all along, is the message and what he is saying wrong? Absolutely not. It's right on the head, at no time in our history has news and information come to us faster. At no time have we been able to see into each others neighborhoods like we do now. 15 years ago... no social media, no camera phones, no instant access to message someone with important news. Now we have it, and now we see scum everywhere. It can't hide, the messages themselves are something great and needed to have out there.

But if you think there is "literally nothing to gain" then you're very naive. He went from not even being talked about to a central figure in American culture in just a couple weeks. He's not only on espn and nfl network, he's on every news channel, every talk show, every pre and post game, every newspaper. And NONE of it has to do with football... that comment from you shows me you don't see how much he has to gain. It's not just about NFL money.

I'm not talking about the message, I'm talking about the man.

stillin729 stillin729 i saw that as well, thought it was interesting. You could be very right, I could be very wrong. But that's an awesome gesture for lack of a better phrase. Wish it could of happened before all this stuff came up, could have disproved how I feel altogether.

In a union only the union reps can speak on it. People working for the union can suggest what they want, make demands, etc. But they have final say on what is said, what is worded, etc. All cops are pretty screwed as well, no matter how they feel... if they disagree and yell that they disagree. Doesn't matter. (work with a union, that's how I understand it.)

the union rep only conveys the message of the members, they more than likely took a vote and majority felt this way.

there's a steward that is the go between the members and the rep. though a member can speak to a rep directly.

Somebody enlighten me.....what's the hopeful end result from sitting for the National Anthem? I hear you guys on here keep cheering on for more and more people to join in on this.....so what are you hoping that in the end it accomplishes?

Damn, just noticed Rashard Mendenhall is a writer on Ballers.

Same result as people saying black lives matter. Same result as Tommy Smith and John Carlos holding the fist. Same result as Kareem not playing not in the 68 Olympics. Same result as the many things Ali did.

Welp....still waiting on somebody to give me an actual answer.

To raise awareness, spark discussion and push relevant issues to the forefront of our nations collective consciousness.

That it solidifies for skeptics and prejudiced people that there is an undeniable mistreatment of minorities in America, and that athletes of all backgrounds will not allow their sport to be used as a "safe haven" for ignoring this truth. The fewer spaces we allow for people to shrink from injustice, the closer we get to acknowledging it and not table it for another generation to resolve.

It continues to progress of dialogue and the chance of change

Does this change something today? No

But its obviously never been that easy, you have to continue to force ppl to be uncomfortable and talk about these issues in hope of change

Like what Maximus Meridius Maximus Meridius mentioned those examples it is the continuation of the fight for justice.

Action and goes hand in hand with protest

Ive seen many ppl (even in this thread) be enlightened by the issues in this country, that is progress

We need to continue to educate one another..Kaep is just another step in the hope of grand scheme of things, it doesnt stop with him..it never started with him..this is a process

We may never see the effect but maybe our future generations do, just cause the reward isnt instant or even if you dont see the light at the end of the tunnel should never stop you from speaking out and protesting against the injustices of ppl.

If more players sit with Kaep, maybe just maybe it opens the discussion even more, and maybe it leads to change (in policies, law reform, ect.)

We dont know the end game, dont it let it stop you from speaking on it

I hope for change to come but let's be honest. Racist are racist. No protest will change that. I hope the end result will be for the NFL executives who are mostly middle age white males, those who oppose Kaeps protest to realize they don't have a league without the best players in the world. To have to cater to the players and get on board similar to what the NBA embraces. Athletes speaking out and for them to encourage them to do so.

Buc Em is clearly tryna be slick. It was a dumb question. It's obvious what the point is. It's like asking what's the point in bringing attention to domestic violence or gay issues.

What the hell YOU think the point is? :lol

I feel you for being skeptical on whether Kaep is really for the cause. I listened to yesterday's presser and he gave very stock responses straight from the BLM playbook. He has to give specific examples of innocent black people getting shot at and the stats proving it. All he really said was "I'm against police brutality and oppression". He needs to be more articulate to prove these racists wrong.
Also I was noticing earlier last year Kaep was posting pro black posts on IG. He used to not do any sort of activism until he got with Nessa.
