How you became a Lakers, Dolphin and Cubs fan.
LA, Miami and Chicago
Oh, easy. (I've explained this many times on here)
Grew up late 80's kid. Lived in LA. Father taught me about Chick Hearn. And Magic was everything.
Cubs were WGN. Summer vaca, games at 11 AM, Wrigley, ivy, brick, Harry, all awesome.
Needed NFL team, then saw Dan Marino throw a football. I was in awe. Sold.
So, wanted a college team. Saw Canes literally fight everyone. Flags every play, CRUSH other players then tell em about it. Dancin, laughin, just obliterate teams. I was totally sold when I found out they hate Notre Dame.
So, LA, Chicago, Miami, Miami, just like that. By 91-92, none of them were good anymore, but I was never gonna leave them. I lost Magic. Dan got hurt in 93, but Sammy came, and Nick Van Exel soon too. Dan came back, and a few years later my Lakers did too.
I grew up quickly losing Magic and not long after, Dan. And in baseball, frankly, just losing. The Cubs did a lot of it.
Now my Cubs are elite, and my Lakers are tankers. But my Cubs are elite from tanking, so there is hope.
I never, ever, ever cared about "home" teams. I'm from LA, yes, but I moved away from LA as a young boy, I didn't give a **** about home town pride in kindergarten.

I loved Magic and Chick Hearn. I didn't need neighbors or classmates cheering with me, same as I don't need em now. Most fans annoy me anyways. I get along with very few in each fanbase I live in. Can't fathom living in a Homer fanbase.
