u can tell bruh had a gambling problem
we do all know thatwe all knew it. It’s even more blatantly obvious when you hear Jordan try and defend it.
thats why they say never meet ur heroesWe’re definitely getting more details on stuff confirming a lot of what we already suspected. It’s crazy looking back on how different we viewed the situation as young kids and fans of mj
thats why they say never meet ur heroes
great basketball player undoubtedly
but IMO
being a douche
who doesnt stand for nothing
knocks u down a lil off MY list
of GOAT
Nah, I met Muhammad Ali twice. Once at a CORE awards event, then at the premier of When We Were Kings. I sat in the same row as Muhammad, given tickets by his photog Howard Bingham. He was always the same, never drunk nor high in public, funny as hell, then unapologetically Black. Dr.J is the same way.thats why they say never meet ur heroes

YOU dont have to look at them at role modelsI completely understand that. I don’t knock the people who feel this way. My thing with Jordan is I’m looking at him strictly as a basketball player. I don’t look to pro athletes and celebrities as role models but I know a lot do so I get it.
i wasnt speaking on someone of HIS pedigreeNah, I met Muhammad Ali twice. Once at a CORE awards event, then at the premier of When We Were Kings. less talented menBeing the talent that he is he’s been in a bubble the better part of his life turning a blind eye and being oblivious to certain realities. It’s also jaded him and made him an *******. But how would any of us handle that situation?? U can’t know
YOU dont have to look at them at role models
i dont either
BUT
i know SOME folks do
and with knowing that SOMEONE is going to look up to u
ESPECIALLY being a black man
and prominent figure
a person like that will be looked up to
by people who look like him
thats just plain FACTS
and for anyone to try and deny that
and pretend he should only play basketball
and not speak on issues
is foolishness
Yup. Many millennials do not know who Dr.J even is, nor how he carried himself not only as an athlete, but as a Black man as well. Big fro, Black schoolyard game, defying that of the NBA and their old school regimented style of play. Doc was that dude.i wasnt speaking on someone of HIS pedigree
we know the type of cloth Ali cut from
less talented men
have stood for more than him
no excuses
WE gotta stop making excuses for behavior like his
agreeI agree with all this. But we gotta separate our leaders from basketball players and celebrities and stop condoning and allowing our children to do it.
He put it ALL on the line.agree
BUT
i would also say
that we should stop putting the ones
who dont speak up for US
on a pedestal
hell Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf spoke out more than MJ
agree

nahsee now you talking that talk That discussion belongs in that other thread but yeah, the pedestal. How do they get there and what not. Jordan is perceived as a biscuit boy but how is lebron any different if he’s only broadcasting the image of being for the cause and more conscious about social issues when at the end of the day him and jordan serve the same master??
