2. I have an art degree, among other things.
That said, when news started circulating about this record setting sale, I was absolutely disgusted. Frankly, one doesn't spend that kind of money because one appreciates the work of art; one spends that kind of money simply as a means to launder dubious cash. Even if the cash is "clean" and stems from "legal" income, it is still dubious in my book because it is likely the end result of policies that facilitate and exacerbate income inequality. For someone to have had 450M to spend on this questionable da Vinci, a lot of people had to lose and suffer in the zero sum game that is our global economy.
