As I read that earlier, it seems as if missing games is inevitable.

Amnesty clause to waive one player from their books
Rollback existing salaries
Eliminate the Mid-level exception
Players can sign with a new team for up to three years
Players can re-sign with their own team for up to five years
Draft entrants have to be 20 years old and out of HS at least two years

what do you guys mean by rollback existing salaries?

and why must the Mid level go?

i think it means to reduce the momentary value of contracts that were already signed.

so like that max contract that melo he made the knicks trade the farm for could end up being worth 14 million even though he signed it in the old cba

i think it happened it hockey and was 24 percent

Reduce player salaries by X amount. I think the number I've read tossed around is 20%, but don't take my word for it.

Mid level has to go because too many players that are either not good, too old or both get that money and in turn it kills the team two or three years down the road while said player still have two or three years left on that contract.

If you think about it's kind of ridiculous: Dwight Howard a superstar by all accounts is scheduled to make $17.8 million next year. On the other hand, DeSagana Diop, who might not even crack a good playoff team's rotation is scheduled to make $6.9 million next year. That makes absolutely no sense.

To save owners from themselves, in other words to save them from stupidly signing guys to deals and putting a financial burden on franchises who can't afford them.

Mid level money now is in the neighborhood of $7 million. Trevor Ariza and Amir Johnson got that.

Do you think both those guys are worth that?

well if its a hard cap then zero shot the mid level stays around right?

mid level was only made for teams over the cap and if its a hard cap they cant go over it any more

im not sure if there is any shot the players agree to reduce there salaries

They agreed in 1999 when we found out players weren't really paid like that, they'll agree again.

Hell NFL players are starting to fold already.

By all indications, this is what the owners want.

We'll see how the players feel when the paychecks haven't arrived and the bills start piling up.

The NBA's offseason is a lot shorter than the NFL's, so hopefully these guys don't let this thing linger

the biggest difference is that alot of money isn't guaranteed with football

i dunno the way i look at it the stars like lebron, wade, melo, durant, dwight, kobe etc don't have to cave. They have some serious money and other outlets.

The NBA is all about stars more than any other sport. it's that simple. so if they don't wanna take a pay decrease i don't see how the owners proceed without them.
