The Penn State Child-Sex Abuse Scandal Thread...Hammer dropped on PSU...sanctions galore.

Whoa....so there was an allegation in '71, in which the university gave a pay out to the victim?

When there's smoke....

Can't tell me Paterno didn't know what was going on w/ Sandusky.
It gets more and more disheartening to hear stuff like this man. Not even as a PSU alumni perspective but just in general.

An allegation from 71 was part of the settlement payments...

If I read it correctly. Not the university giving 'hush money' or something like that. But I read quick and on my phone

It probably wouldn't have made a difference. Sandusky was outed before but he was getting protected at all levels at Penn State and by the authorities. Remember Ray Gricar? He was the DA who was going to finally nail him but he vanished Jimmy Hoffa style and got declared legally dead a few years ago. His brother "vanished" as well before he did. The culture in that part of Pennsylvania extends beyond the campus of Penn State. There's a cabal running the show up there. Paterno was the only one who wasn't found guilty of perjury when the cat got out of the bag. He may've known all along but nobody disproved that he was told 3 days after the fact by McQueary. That fact saved him legally, on top of other people reporting him and the law ignoring it before over the years. I don't know how guilty Joe is, but he was a cog at best from where I sit. The Feds need to take over this investigation, which should've happened all along.

I'm not one to usually subscribe to conspiracy theories, but the disappearance of Gricar is crazy sketchy. Especially w/ his ties to what was going on in State College.

c'mon now

Gricar decided not to press charges against Sandusky in 98, I have followed Gricar's disappearance since it happened, I still remember reading the Daily Collegian the day after he went missing on on a step outside a classroom. I have followed his disappearance for 10+ years now because it fascinates me but thinking they are related is a real stretch.

Mind expanding upon this statement? Are you a PA resident?

No. I'm from Florida but I reside in Texas for school. I said that because we've all seen schools with prominent athletic programs exercise stroke when somebody gets in trouble, but this is Catholic Church/Vatican level. I believe that there's something worse than the typical Good Ol' Boy System/cronyism setup to cover for each other there. Penn State doesn't just have one of the biggest fan bases around, it's an institution football wise. A good deal of people up there traditionally grow up wanting go there and play. I think it's reasonable to suspect that the mania and mystique got something broken in the law enforcement up there to make even them "blind" to this and protect that reptile. People reported Jerry Sandusky to authority outside of Penn State and not only was something not done, an authority figure who was going to shut him down has become a X-Files cold case murder victim. There's got to be something in the water up there that makes Flint's look like Dom Perignon. There's no way that this can't be mass collusion.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are beyond strange. For whatever the reason he decided not to press charges against Sandusky. That alone is enough to raise an eyebrow. On top of it all, when the police searched his home following his disappearance, they found evidence on a home computer that someone in his house was researching how to destroy a hard drive. Remember, his laptop and hard drive were recovered separately in the Susquehanna River after his car was found abandoned.

To me, there are just too many strange coincidences for this to be a run of the mill missing persons case. I really believe that somehow, someway, this is tied to everything going on with the mess at Penn State.

It is a bit surprising that there wasn't a larger scale investigation by the Feds. Perhaps not enough to go off of....or maybe they looked into it and determined it wasn't necessary. Don't really recall

The victim, who was identified in court records as John Doe 150, said that while he was attending a football camp at Penn State, Sandusky touched him as he showered. Sandusky’s finger penetrated the boy’s rectum, Doe testified in court in 2014, and the victim asked to speak with Paterno about it. Doe testified that he specifically told Paterno that Sandusky had sexually assaulted him, and Paterno ignored it.

“Is it accurate that Coach Paterno quickly said to you, ‘I don’t want to hear about any of that kind of stuff, I have a football season to worry about?'” the man’s lawyer asked him in 2014.

“Specifically. Yes … I was shocked, disappointed, offended. I was insulted… I said, is that all you’re going to do? You’re not going to do anything else?”

Paterno, the man testified, just walked away.

Disgusting.

The whole situation and the cover up/look away is probably the saddest and dispicable thing that has ever happened in sports

Jerry Sandusky's Son Charged With Child Sexual Assault

Jeffrey Sandusky, the 41-year-old adopted son of former Penn State football coach and convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky, has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor, among other counts.

According to the criminal docket filed by Rockview (Penn.) police, Sandusky is facing a total of 14 charges, including criminal solicitation of statutory sexual assault, criminal solicitation of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse from a person less than 16 years old, and two counts of criminal solicitation of child pornography.

According to WTAJ-TV, police began investigating when a child came forward in November to allege that Jeffrey Sandusky had requested naked photos from him. That investigation turned up a second potential victim, with abuse dating back to 2013. Twelve of the 14 counts concern that earlier victim.

Centre County Magisterial District Judge Kelley Gillette-Walker set Jeffrey Sandusky’s bail at $200,000. Sandusky was unable to meet it, so he was remanded to Centre County Prison.
