there was also PSP classics like Type-0 and 3rd Birthday :ohwell:
Haha I liked Type 0 for PS4 and thought it would have been a great spin-off series if we got a true console version and not a remaster of a PSP game. It reminded me of FF’s spin on the Persona style. I can’t comment of 3rd Birthday, I never played the Parasite Eve series.

Honestly ffxvi looked pretty European so I’m not that excited but hopefully the story is dope, the music is fire and it’s turn based.

FFXIV at 30, while VI is at 44 and VII is at 98.

Not the best year but I have a few RPGs in the backlog that I’m hoping to play for the first time in addition to some that I’ll be replaying.

That man was handed a time line and a box of scraps. I think he did fine with what he had
XV could have been the GOAT, but several mishandlings from time constraints to lazy elemental components left too much on the table. I refuse to play that game again because the potential vs what was got always pisses me off.

That’s tempting but I’m trying to really make smarter purchases

Anybody in here cop SMT V? How’s it compare to Persona games? Persona games aren’t necessarily my cup of tea. I’m not a fan of the social link crap with high school teens.

Yea, I can understand that. Grandia II is one of my top 10 best RPGs ever and I was super bummed it didnt come to PS4/5.

I have always understood Shin Megami Tensei as being the option if you didnt like the social features of Persona.

If you hate the social stuff then yeah SMT is for you. You still collect demons but no dates, no calendar or no damn cat telling you to sleep

Stealing this from the Playstation Lifestyle Twitter.

Who would be in your ULTIMATE RPG/JRPG squad?
Rules: - It must be a squad of 6 - They can come from any series across any console/PC

I chose all JRPGs... might do a western one later.

Frog (Chrono Trigger)
Vivi (Final Fantasy IX)
Lavitz (Legend of Dragoon)
Vahn (Legend of Legaia)
Huxley (Vandal Hearts)
Hero (Dragon Quest 8)

I thought about tossing in over-powered temp party characters like Sephiroth, but I kept it main characters.

OG Wild Arms is my fave jrpg by far, FF7 stole its shine but if iykyk. Playing xenogears now and it’s a gem, probably the deepest story squaresoft ever told. Suikoden ii is next on my old rpg playthrough list.

Interesting list.

Tales of Arise, Xenoblade, and Fire Emblem are all on my games to try to get to this year at some point.
