Made popular by Mitch Richmond and Tim Hardaway back in the day, the Nike Air Bakin’ shoe was released in 1997 and has even been re-released or “retroed” in 2007. I remember my Dad got me a pair of these when I was a little kid and I honestly thought they were called the “Air Bacon” for being red and yellow and slightly resembling bacon. Either way these shoes are outrageously comfortable and I think that Nike should continue to re-release them in different colorways.

When the Air Bakin’s were released they were recalled shortly after because the “Air” logo on the back closely resembled form of the word “Allah”, causing Nike to replace the logo with their trademark swoosh patch on the heel.

Given the fact the shoe was named bakin(bacon) who wouldn’t be offended.

Idk, but the possibility of avar having design influence in most of 90s nike basketball styles he could have been.
