I didn't know but it's also not very surprising. I can understand €100-120 for a t-shirt but even if I was super rich there's no way I'd spend above that.

Definitely get some advice from the actual Americans in here, which I am not, but just looking at the question, I don't see why you'd want or need to pay in all cash in the first place. It's an interesting question for sure, I'm always looking to learn more about how US agencies function.

If there's no issue and you can explain where the cash came from and reported it as income, then why not just put it in the bank and save yourself any potential hassle? Also, how much cash are we talking about here?

are you withdrawing the funds from a bank? if so as long as the funds are from a legit source you'll be ok(if it wasnt your bank most likely would have already found out and reported you tbh) but they will send a report to the irs for that transaction since they're required to do so by law.
