the thread about nothing...

My parents told my sister and I today that they don't plan to stay at home when they retire. They want to retire out of the country. They'll leave the home to either my sis or I and that they're OK with whatever we want to do with it.

Shhhh loll. If they give it to me, I'd probably fix the home up. Make the second floor hardwood. Finish the basement and sell the sucker.

My sister would probably do the same thing.

Lol

So do they plan on going home to the PI? Kick it with Duterte?

Real talk. Thank god my wifes people are cooler then polar bear toenails. My fam on the other hand tho lol.

Man my extended fam is scattered across the states so I don't get involved with the drama, and my parents are mad chill. There's just too much going on with her side at once. She's the one everyone turns too also so I'm drained

Y'all gonna make a joint effort to fix and then split the profit?

I wouldn't mind splitting it with my sister 50/50. The house has considerably appreciated since parents bought it so even if we split it we both take in a good amount of money

The house was bought for 300k. The house was recently appraised at about 700k. But I think if the second floor becomes complete hardwood and the basement gets finished my guess is it'll bump the house another 100k?

I'm no real estate expert so no idea

As long as the upgrades compliment the entire house, I'm sure it will raise the value.

It's funny the little things I've learned. We were already bouncing the idea around of making the two bedrooms upstairs into one gigantic room but then we learned knocking down the walls and decreasing the number of rooms depreciates the house.

Bounced the idea also of replacing the old door in front with something more modern but the antique door actually adds to the house's value, apparently
