That's what they say about a lot of high athletic school players. Such as me who wasn't good but got greater overtime.
I didn't play basketball but I ran track and field. When I 1st go into it I wasn't that good but my junior(16) and senior(17) year I became a real competitive athlete with my summer training I did, Even had knee injuries and was still smashing school records post rehab of my injuries. I worked hard trained hard. Proved myself and singly handily carried my 4x800 relay team.
Got into college and was still competitive at the collegiate level.

That's great that you worked on your athleticism and made a college career out if it.
But the kind of athleticism that nba players have isn't something that you train for. You're just born with it.
I'd wager most athletic NBA players will tell you they've got their first dunk when they were 13 or 14. First dunk in game by freshman year of high school. By the age of 16 you should really really have a good idea of what the athletic ceiling is. All that's left is to just get bigger and smarter.
I don't see it in Zaire Wade. Can he get more athletic? Sure. Maybe a little more but his athleticism is very average, he's not going to be anywhere near his pops. If he was you'd be seeing flashes of that at this point.

seems like these kids aren't that much physically superior to kids their age and not relying on athleticism but do have a pretty decent all around skill set
but for the most part, those kids that have those freakish athleticism pop out and get offered a scholarship off that. coaches bank on being able to develop the other areas over time

I knew kids at age 11 who can dunk maybe not at regulation height level rim but lower it a little they can get busy.
I think what your trying to say is you're born with a god given talent.
But I won't press you any longer but leave a quote for you think about since you seem short sighted about what the difference between what athleticism is and what happens when you work hard.
You can Be born with any talent but if you waste it then your wasting the greatest gift God has given you.

As far as athleticism, it's either you have it or you don't. That's all I'm saying. Zaire Wade is 16 and I don't think he's ever had an in game dunk. That's not looking good for him. I don't see nba level athleticism - or any potential for it at all - is all I'm saying.

Amel don't know what he's talking about. He's relying on watching YouTube videos in his basement and making a short sighted assessment on somebody he never seen in real life. Can't take him serious in anything sports talk.
Go to an nyc basketball court or pre-teen summer league these kids will pull moves they see on tv and for themselves.

You need to get your Brain checked out, thier are many players in the nba that aren't athletic, they just have attributes that the nba league looks for. Manu bol was the least athletic player I can mention but still got into the league cause of his freakish height.

I don't get the backlash. 16 is really not that young. If you're not showing your athletic potential at that time then you're a really really late bloomer. Remember, most players get drafted at 19. 18 if they have an early birthday.

Now can he make the nba despite that? Maybe. That's a different argument altogether.
You're shifting the goal post a little bit. You're going from you can still get more athletic after 16 to you can still make the nba even if you're not athletic. It's two different arguments.

Just stop the back and forth. Honestly, it was a dumb argument to begin with. Nash and Curry won back to back MVP's and both are nowhere near the top as far as athleticism. Pippen and Rodman got huge growth spurts after high school. The list goes on.
