I see it as a range. The manager has a bracket where he/she can bargain.
If you go too over the top, you’re not in the money and maybe you can’t get anywhere close to that amount so they let you go.
Research the position and make sure you are realistic with your expectations.
I was hiring people for entry-level at 35-40k. Some would ask for 50k, i just couldn’t pay that much for the role, i had to let them go.
