Bruh I grew up in a rural country town that was divided half farmers/ranchers and half dreadlock hippies and a few exceptions (I was the only black person in the town and was neither cowboy nor hippy)
I’ll never forget going to my hippy friends house for the first time and they told me they all pooped outside in their outhouse. It was like the 3rd grade, so I had HEARD of those but I didn’t think they were real. Not only did they have the outhouse converted to turn the poop into fertilizer for THEIR vegetable garden, but they also had just a single “reusable” cloth to wipe with. I loved hanging with my friend, but that was a bit much for 3rd grade me

I couldn’t imagine going away to college after only using a cloth wipe all my life. Probably have my picture posted everywhere on campus as a menace

My grandparents had outhouses but at least they weren’t so ancient that they didn’t have/use toilet paper

depends on the joke i suppose...does the person know the info is false, willingly ignorant/obvious about not caring about the veracity of the info, genuinely believes the info to be true, or are they just trying to get off these jokes?

yea depends on the joke/subject matter…this is probably an unpopular opinion to say aloud but most folk do functionally agree (tho not exactly 1:1, when folk making all these diddy jokes, they aren’t focused on accuracy or truthfulness necessarily) i think a comedian or someone earnestly trying to be funny only has responsibility to what is funny, with some caveats with respect to disrespectful/distasteful/purposely offensive but these are quite subjective obviously
