what can be done to prevent this? i hate that my tongue goes to one side... thanks!

It's a matter of how you lace it, or it could just be poor design of the shoes. Which shoe are you talking about?

Air max lunar but happens with a lot of shoes...

Yeah that's definitely just the design of the shoe. Best bet is to just leave the laced loose.
