Update: Meyer taking "indefinite leave of absence."

Definitely seems like he's not letting everyone in on the entire story.

Because if it's just "stress" then he really is the biggest drama queen known to man.

This obviously is all a ploy to get Tim Tebow the head coach job in 2010.

So lets say Urban regains control in the fall.

Do you think that the current damage will be washed away?

Shut up....Ol'Bandwagon ++* bum!!!

This dude and lilstar are the worst bandwagoners in the whole sports and training forum.
He actually goes to University of Florida though, so he's not on a wagon in that case.

IDK the whole thing is fishy i hate to say it but i'm waiting for some huge scandal to unfold lol like in BLUE CHIPS or something, if not ithink it will all blow over eventually.

I'm 100% positive Urban will be the head coach on the sidelines for Miami (OH) opener...Addazio might coach the Spring Game...Urban is still going to berunning things though. He probably just wants a break from the day to day task stuff.

is this years recruting class worth more then the future?

if dude ant coming back then go out and get the best head coach you can get and let him try to save the recruits that will try to jump ship this year.

cause if you give Addazio the job and he $+%@* it up you save this year class but mess up your future recruting

They might just be freezing the recruits. Weird situation to say the least. Recruits can really do anything about it if in August Meyer says that health hasnot improved, etc.

Meyer rushed to hospital post-SEC finale

A 911 call made from Urban Meyer's home around 4:30 a.m. ET on Dec. 6, after Florida lost in the SEC championship game, reveals that the Gators' coachwas rushed to the hospital by ambulance after complaining of chest pains and a tingling sensation on his side.

The Dec. 6 call, obtained Wednesday by ESPN, contradicts earlier comments from Meyer and the university that the coach checked himself into a Gainesvillehospital that morning for dehydration, only later to admit that he also had chest pains.

Meyer's wife Shelley, who placed the 911 call, said her husband awoke briefly that morning and tried to get out of bed, but fell to the floor. On the call,Shelley Meyer said he was breathing and had a pulse but would not wake up. She said her husband had been taking the sleeping pill Ambien, which she said oftenputs him into a deep sleep.

On the call, Shelley Meyer also said her husband had never had a heart attack before but had complained of chest pains due to anxiety.

Urban Meyer announced last Saturday in Gainesville that he was stepping down as Florida's coach because of health concerns.

The following day in New Orleans, where the Gators are preparing to play Cincinnati in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Saturday, Meyer changed his mind, saying hewas taking an indefinite leave of absence instead of resigning.

Despite his ongoing health concerns, the 45-year-old Meyer will coach in the Sugar Bowl and expects to be on the sideline leading the Gators when next seasonopens.

Meyer has refused to elaborate on his health problems and declined to answer on Sunday when asked if doctors advised him to stop coaching.

Meyer led the Gators to BCS national championships in 2006 and 2008. He is 56-10 with Florida, including 32-8 in the SEC and a school-record 22-game winningstreak that was snapped by Alabama's 32-13 victory in the conference title game Dec. 5.

Information from ESPN investigative reporter Paula Lavigne and The Associated Press was used in this report.

Maybe it was a semi-heart attack. I really hope Urban is fully right before he decides to come back, his health is more important than losing somerecruits.

"I was strong on Florida, that's where I wanted to be and then when this happened I was like dang. I was supposed to be enrolling there in about 10 days but I had a bad feeling about things when he said he was coming back, I didn't feel comfortable with that. I didn't want to get in and get stuck, that was really scaring me," Elam said.
Pretty much what I was alluding to.

Damage has been done.

Some of these kids are no idiots, and smell the BS a mile away.

Dre, not saying you're wrong, but what are you alluding to? What is the "BS"? That Urban won't be back for a while/if ever?

What is UP with everyone taking Ambien nowadays? First MJ and Tiger, now we find out Urban's on this stuff. Stuff must be pretty good.

These kids are being told that everything is going to be fine, when just a couple days prior, urban said that he was done. Then all of a suddenafter a 'spirited practice' it goes from retirement to a leave of absense that could see him back by the fall, or next season? How does a spiritedpractice change your heart issues? How does that even make sense? The UF administration is trying to salvage the recruiting class by any means possible and arefeeding the kids this BS. Damage has been done because this has planted a seed of doubt into every recruits mind. And one thing that they value, about as muchas PT, is stability in a program. Who's to say that hypothetically speaking if Urbie came back, that he wouldn't run into the same 'healthproblems' again and have to leave? Add in the fact that they lost Charlie strong and you got a huge mess.

This is for the kids that committed to Urban, that are drawn to UF for Urban. Some kids just want to play for Florida, so a coaching staff change wouldn'thave as much of an effect. But a good # of kids come to UF because of Urban Meyer, the man, the coach. These are the kids they're gonna end up missing outon. This !+%% isn't just patched up by Urban saying "I am now taking a leave of absence" and it still wouldn't be 100% patched up even ifUrban returned in the fall.

And opposing coaching are going to prey on this to these kids.

My first thought when it came out that UM was just "taking a leave of absense" now was they just want to protect the recruiting class. I'm notgonna say that he WON'T be coaching next year, but it is very likely and this whole story is BS. I agree with Dre that UF is telling these kids straightBS.

Elam had been looking for a reason to leave anyway. He's a great prospect congrats on the pickup Dre.
