They treat their employees like garbage, literally one of the worst companies to work for.
Everybody thinks it's cool though.
I enjoy the Vice content, but these employees need a bit of a reality check honestly. By this point Vice has the cool reputation, I mean $*^* they just threw a fat party at the old Bowery Bank Building, full of models, drugs and booze. They pushed an obviously exclusive vibe that night, and the employees I met were all pretty douchy and self-entitled.
its like wait a minute, you graduated two years ago from random college with a major in journalism, you decided you wanted to move to the most expensive city in the world and you now want to live with your rebel yet cultured friends in a Williamsburg loft with a roof deck view of Manhattan, and you want to work for a cool and grungy company like vice that pushes it to the limit but knows how to party too cause you know, you still like getting f*^***d up quite a bit these days. You want to get coked out of your mind at Le Bain with your head of content manager at Vice only to eventually get laid by the unknown model impressed by your story about going to Tanzania next week to write about the illegal and unsustainable deforestation crisis going on out there today
If you want more money, don't work for Vice. You're in New York City, there is ALWAYS another job. Shane Smith isn't handcuffing you to the company, he's just not giving you that dream life you think you deserve at 26. Cant stand those who victimize themselves like their careers are either Vice or bust. Leave your job, get another one, come back and leverage your experience/skill set. Don't blog about how you deserve a raise cause you can't comfortably afford Netflix and grubhub anymore.
My bad. End rant.
