ESPN has learned that Pierce will sign a two-year deal with the Wizards at the mid-level exception with a player option entering Year 2

Great move. :pimp:

Everyone was worried we would sign Ariza to a bloated longterm deal. Instead, we let him go and signed a better (offensive) player on a cheap two-year deal, keeping our cap flexibility open for 2016. You can't possibly hate on this signing

How you boys feel about this? Good pickup on a team friendly deal IMO. Nice to bring in another no nonsense vet who can support your young guys in tough situations. Wouldn't mind seeing another Cavs vs. Wiz series w/ a different outcome this time.

Otto, man.

This is a very good deal provided he stays healthy. Hopefully he doesn't check out, and rob y'all during year 2.

Good bargain we got in Pierce, he's proven and his game doesn't rely on a shred of athleticism to be effective. Hopefully he's just warming the seat for Otto

Very solid way to bounce back from losing Ariza. Once Gortat got that deal you kind of figured that it was over for Ariza.

2 year 11M isn't bad for Pierce. He can still contribute.

This could end up being a great move. It's a friendly deal, adds a veteran with championship experience and a guy with whom Cassell has a history. He's not the defender that Ariza is but he still has the range to preserve out spacing and hit those 3's on kickouts from Wall.

I think the most important thing is that he can create his own shot in half court settings. Only Wall (driving to the hoop), Nene, or Beal could really generate their own offense reliably. When things slowed down late in games in the Pacers series the offense totally stalled. Having a guy like Pierce will pay huge dividends in those situations. Even if he only averages 13 ppg, he's still a SHOTMAKER.

Not to mention, IF Otto can continue to progress, he'll be able to transition into the starting role as Pierce declines.

PAUL PIERCE???!!!????

Bottom line: I don’t think the Wizards valued Ariza as much as many felt they did. They know John Wall can make wings better.

^^ you really talking bout pierce coming off the bench on a 2 year deal , Webster got a better shot at starting that Otto

Pierce on the Wiz is random as **** , but I of Otto ain't playing this year they let him cook on the D League at least

Pierce will definitely start, but Otto will be getting 20+ min per night. Pierce can't be trusted to play more than 25mpg at this point in his career.

Holy **** we got a 8.5 mil trade exception from Houston.

Grunfeld doing numbers right now.

One more vet to solidify the frontcourt and we ready.
