I could see this happening if the manufacturer took a vote from customers or dealership owners as to what model to retro. This could easily be done through a Twitter/Facebook campaign. Maybe give 3 choices like a 54 Corvette, 69 Camaro or 72 Chevelle.

Alternatively manufacturers should offer full OEM restorations/updates and finance the build cost for qualified borrowers. Some buyers will prefer spending $35-45K on a factory warrantied restoration than on a new car if they are getting financed. I think Bentley does factory restorations.
