Why do people post for later?

I don't understand this new NT trend? Are people posting so that they can come back and write a more meaningful post in that spot at a later time? Or am I missing something?

Because NT'ers are obviously so busy with the hectic lives they lead, they must remind themselves on their own account page that they did post in a thread, making them remember, "Oh right, I have to read this", leading to another pointless post that usually goes along the lines of "Cliffnotes" "Pass" "YNS" or, "cool story bro".

sometimes you don't have time to read everything in the thread, but you don't want to forget about it. or you may not have time to say what you want to say, so you 'bookmark' it and click on your recent posts when you have time.

really? the front page changes all the time. sometimes you see a potential thread about to pop off before work and then by the time you get home that bad boy is buried in like page 5. it takes two seconds to hit navigation>posts>thread title and jump off right where you left off.

Sometimes the thread gets pushed back a couple of pages and NTers don't want to go back and look for it. Or, maybe they forgot where they left off. So if they "post for later" all they have to do is go in their profile and click on the thread.

Say you bookmark this thread at work/school, how are you supposed to look at it when you get home?

Two Reasons.
1. When you click your name, you can see recent post. It saves you the trouble of searching for the topic. In short, a bookmark.
2. Some people put "post for later" if their on the first 1 or 2 pages so people will actually read their comments when they go back an edit.

The first reason is more acceptable, the 2nd reason means you are taking NT a little too seriously.

Just remember what you looked at.   For example, you looked at a booty, breast, latin women thread. You can also t type the necessary terms in the search engine, that's that.

Exactly. Also, I used to copy the links and e-mail them to my Yahoo account but obviously posting is quicker.
