Man's is putting one album on a pedestal to carry a decade.
giphy (79).gif

Yeah that's what I'm not getting either. Early 2000's was saturated with iconic albums. You could hit the record store on almost any Tuesday from 2000-2003 and something nice would be dropping.

Would be like saying the 70's was a better decade for movies than the 90's because Godfather came out.

Limit yourselves to Hip Hop musically and use that as the barometer to determine the strength of a decade in terms of quality music output

I didn’t want to be the one to say it

2000's R&B

Deangelo - Voodoo
Timberlake - Forget the name but had until the end of time on there
Usher- Confessions & 8701
I'm a radiohead guy and all their dope albums came out that decade

the whole nyc indie scene at the time with the strokes, Interpol, yeah yeah yeahs, lcd Soundsystem, the National, vampire weekend etc etc

The 2000's definitely had a better rock scene that i confidently put behind the 70's, but i like hip hop & the more experimental sub-genres stuff like standing on the corner, death grips, sophie, etc from this decade a bit more. I think the stuff that came out this decade will fair better than the last one 10, 20, 30yrs from now, even done to fashion.

None of those are nearly as groundbreaking as MBDTF, TPP or Blonde
groundbreaking doesnt mean good, just cuz they did something different didn't make their music better. i don't wanna hear groundbreaking/innovative ****, i just wanna hear good ****, and the 2000s easily defeats the 2010s in that regard

Time will tell but I doubt the death grips will be more remembered than the strokes. and I also put the 2000’s indie scene right behind the late 60’s-70’s rock scene.

Oh no, if u play death grips for the average person they may have stroke (no pun intended). I personally the strokes better, or at least their 1st 2 albums better than anything DG has put out. Either way in must genres & in must decades I can think of the good stuff ain't the pop stuff for the most part. I don't base the "best" music on what billboard says. I actually negatively judge ppl that do.

way better list, and thats just pure numbers, quality music far exceeded da 2010's

jesus christ that ashanti song at #19 was fire, i posted like 125 albums and none were murder inc, ruffryderz, terror squad smfh

GRODT trying is on that level of being culturally groundbreaking. its pretty average musically though. the other 3 r more subtle.
50 cent did not invent gangster rap with Dre's production. He had great commercial success but there was nothing groundbreaking about it.

groundbreaking doesnt mean good
Groundbreaking does not make something good, I agree. But it does make something that is already good even better.

Why do you think 50 cent hasn't been able to sustain the same success and longevity that Kanye has? Because he wants to keep making the same BS records

50 wasnt able to sustain because he STOPPED making GRODT, Massacre, G-Unit Beg For Mercy type tracks. I Get Money aint no In Da Club, 21 Questions, Hate It Or Love It, Outta Control Remix, Window Shopper, PIMP, So Seductive, If I Can't etc. + That singy style 50 had + the crazy beef records stopped before Curtis, and that's why 50 ended, because he went 3 straight years dropping 30 hits and ran outta gas. On top of that, Eminem was at his "Encore" BS, Nate Dogg ended up dying, Busta Rhymes was getting wack, DMX disappeared, G-Unit guys were getting lazy, 50 getting rich as hell and not caring about music but more business side of stuff, etc, led to the downfall of musical 50.

it opened up a lane though, Max B ended up filling that gap later on. Saigon kind of did for a short period of time until Joe Budden ate him up on a lil beef they had

If 50 cent released another GRODT, Massacre, G-Unit Beg For Mercy type track today (or even 5 years ago), it would a huge flop
