I was watching a Hodgetwins video, and they mentioned how they're revenue is going down to companies no longer having their ad's attatched to certain videos. To sum it up:

"More companies are pulling advertising from YouTube over Google’s inability to ensure ads won’t appear next to hateful and offensive content. The Wall Street Journal reports that YouTube videos centered around racist, homophobic, and anti-Semitic views are still scooping up ads from brands like Coca-Cola, Amazon.com, and Microsoft.

This has become a rather precarious problem for YouTube and Google’s larger advertising operation, both of which rely on what’s called programmatic advertising that uses algorithms and not humans to dictate placement. The company also promised new tools like artificial intelligence-powered filtering that would detect offensive language and other contents within a video and flag it."

This has caused advertisers to pull back from advertising on youtube, plenty videos being flagged, and having ads removed, resulting in the loss of revenue a lot of revenue. Channels have been deleted, and people are now switching over to places like Twitch, Patreon, and other subscription based services.

What ya'll think. Are people overreacting? Is paid subscription services like twitch and patreon the new wave? Any NTers on youtube that could chime in?

The issue is whether if youtube is taking too much away from the content creators with all of the changes they're making to make revenue, and as a result, are they creating a overly PC, safe, controlled environment?

youtube needs to automatically ban your IP if you use the word n**ger in the comments

They wouldn't have the balls to do that. You know how many users they'd lose?

Ads aren't the only thing YouTube is screwing up on. They keep shooting themselves in the foot over and over. Haven't even bothered to upload anything for months because of it.

What else they screw up on?

The copyright system they have in place is horrible and pretty much anyone can put a claim on something to an extent and take all your revenue

They can de-monetize you if you cuss even a little bit in your video

And they made it much harder for smaller creators to get their name out there and have their content be discovered. Like you literally got to cheat the system to do anything worthwhile and that ain't worth the stigma that comes with it.

Damn. I thought they had at least fixed the copyright issue

Good. Make Youtube about the content again. Not about these clones all producing the same BS.

Youtube became really copy/paste over the last 3 years. Take these fools back to basics

Nope lol. Still very flawed.

Honestly I think ads will go back to normal soon, but everything else..nah

If you think it'll force that kind of change, then you're lying to yourself.

Yeah, I think regarding to the ads and all that, things will be fixed, but it'll take time. Not sure how I feel about the fact that you have to now have 10,000 lifetime views in order to get revenue now.

what does 10,000 lifetime views mean

i make beats and was thinking about posting beats/remixes to youtube just to see what happens as far as side revenue

It means you have to accumulate 10,000 total views on your videos before you see revenue.
