Youtube Ad Crisis

YouTubers love to complain. Play by the rules, or go somewhere else. It's really not that difficult.

The majority of those idiots don't understand that when your revenue is solely dependent on advertisers, your content is now at the mercy of those very same advertisers.

Not sure how I feel about the fact that you have to now have 10,000 lifetime views in order to get revenue now.

That's not much. And it's probably best that way. I can only imagine how many people create AdSense accounts only to turn around and give up on their channel because their first video didn't crack 100 views. Chances are if you grind your way to 10k views, you're probably going to stick it out for the long haul.

I watched a really good video about the YouTube ad-pocalypse a while back that started with the whole Wall Street Journal/Pewdie Pie scandal
it talked about tv networks losing out to streaming and youtube and major advertisers with ties to those networks are looking for reasons to pull their ads from youtube which would slow down the production of content and drive viewers to the networks and other streaming services they are aligned with

Gonna be tough for them to break into pay subscription because of their reputation for highlight and instructional videos.

You know what I just realized....

EDP's channel is gone.

That dude was a real one. Never did it for the checks (although he damn sure craved the attention). Free speech to the max. But he made a video calling out the YouTube strike system. Dude made all types of foul vids but that was the one that broke the camel's back lol.

Yeah although it's gaining steam, I don't see services like twitch popping off like that.

If you think it'll force that kind of change, then you're lying to yourself.

Nah, I’m subscribed to maybe 10 youtubers. all pumping either quality visual content, financial knowledge, or they're designers.

The content I'm watching is coming from people who are actually putting time and effort into youtube because its building their brands. Which in return comes out to be quality content for me as a viewer.

Not just some ****boy who copped a camera and is mad because he can't afford his lambo anymore due to ad revenue drying up.

Youtube has been trying to convert all the "big names" to youtube red anyways. The Pewdiepie's and all the other minions. This is playing into their favor so they can get people to pay for that bum *** subscription.

Quality content is a result of purpose. All these Pewdiepie and Jake Paul wannabe's are blown cause the jugg is up. Get a job, or get a purpose.

And that's 10 out the millions of Youtube channels out there.

Just ain't happening, man.

Well obviously it isn't happening due to ad revenue being kicked back. My stance isn't "I don't like these channels, so they don't deserve money"

But the truly creative content youtubers won't be effected by this. Most of the people complaining about this are "daily vloggers" and people following youtube trends.

Aka the people who do nothing all day, and film it. Aka the Casey Neistat wannabe's

So my stance is basically, get off your ***, play by the new rules, and give value. Because the copy and paste isn't getting you as many views as they used to, and with ads pulling out, people are getting left in the cold.

Value = views

Jake Paul and those other channels like his are trash to me, but they supply value and entertainment to kids. Hence why he's cracking half a billion views a month. Obviously the gap between his channel and someone averaging 100k views a video, maybe 200k-1m views a month is huge, and they're really taking a hit, but thats the name of the game b.

Or take the hit. It was a good run while you had it easy. This isn't television and movies. They paper was never promised the begin with.

This article basically points to the same view I have

Why the boycotts are a good thing

These recent boycotts will push YouTube to properly separate “good” content from everything else, which is great news for content creators. Although this is a much harder technical problem to solve, especially because spammers will work relentlessly to reverse engineer any algorithm, it’s the one that will pay the largest dividends for Google.

If YouTube is properly sorting content by quality, CPMs (cost per thousand impressions) will diverge across channels, enabling the platform to charge significantly higher CPMs for the best content—which is absolutely essential if YouTube intends to compete with TV. Once the dollars are there, those lazy trends will disappear, and YouTubers will strive to create the best content possible.”

I think your stance is a bit harsh. This effects expression period. Not just those who are blogging everyday and producing that kind of content
